Does it show up in Metro dashboard? If it doesn't, then you'll probably need to apply the avatar fix using the official dashboard update from MS. Try downloading this folder and load it on a FAT32 USB drive and update the console, when prompted. Once it's done rebooting, your avatar should be back up.
Code: | http://dl.dropbox.com/u/49375884/%24%24ystemUpdate.rar |
WARNING: This is only for 14699 dashboard. So be sure, your dashboard version is the same.

Okay, total newbie here, my friend got a glitched box (before me, damnit) and we got games running through XeXmenu but we have no idea how to get XBLA and DLC working.
Can anybody provide some help how to run XBLA games through XeXmenu off a external hdd?
And how do I get DLC working?

Isn't that the internal hdd though? Isn't it possible to run XBLA through the external drive?

Ah, thanks! Guess using FSD is the only viable option for externally playing FSB? Gotta convince my friend to fix FSD, since he's an asshat that wants to use XeXmenu because the guy that glitched his console recommends him only using XeXmenu (why, I have no idea).
Either way, appreciate the fast answers, cheers and have a happy new year.

Right, or you can extract the XBLA packages then you execute them from default.xex... But just use FSD.

That's weird. Did you insert the Title updates I gave you, correctly in the 'Cache' folder? Try the 110% save file. What tool did you use to re-hash and re-sign the save file?

There's one thing I don't get, how can the whole new NXE-dashboard fit in a 16MB NAND? I remember Microsoft's updates used to be like 200MB or so?
Also, how do you install XeXMENU or FSD so it shows up on the NXE games-list after you've upgraded your dash? I read something about putting the files in a C0DE9999-folder in content. I tried that but nothing new would show up.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

Quote: | DL V2.29
ChangeLog:
- expanded temp broadcaster to include PE Name and path of current title
- added titleid and mediaid output to temp logger
- fixed a bug in unhandled-exception handler (could cause freeze/multiple consecutive exceptions)
- add title module PE name and path to exception log
- contpatch completely rewritten, now takes over checking license bits entirely for xam when enabled
(may break... things, or allow some to work that shouldn't/crash) |

I think it's all the updates, not just the new one. They have to make sue that all consoles can update safely to the newst dash, and if by some absurdity you have a box with the old blades dash and want to update to the newest one, they have to make that work for you.

You can make NXE shortcuts of any app with QuickBoot. They (Xexmenu for instance) usually show up by default in the demos tab, that's where you should make your custom shortcuts as well.
Not sure but for xexmenu the correct path should be: Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000

i'm about to buy a RGH install and this is what i'm supposed to get in the package:
1 x RGH chip.
1 x install af RGH chip.
2 x Udlæsning(dunno how to translate this) of Original Bios
1 x Flash af Freeboot bios
1 x Installation af Freestyle dash
1 x Installation af auto start af Freestyle dash
1 x CD/DVD with originale NAND bios.
is there anything i should ask them about like essential programs etc. or can i easily install those by myself after i get it back?
the only real thing i'm interested in is to play my games via usb external HDD(working XBL games + available DLC would be nice too).

You'll do just fine with that man. And yes you will be able to play any game on an external drive, from downloaded ISO to XBLA to DLC.

Just thought I'd add that while you're in FSD, you need to setup the paths for DLC (or any other for that matter) to look at the external drive rather than the HDD1. It's under settings i think.

is there an easy way to update FSD once i get the console back?
i'm asking cuz i've seen a few frequent updates for it and don't wanna send it back and forth for something minor etc.

Updating FSD is easy, you can download the latest version and put it on your external harddrive and run it from that (ie. via XeXmenu).

Not even that complicated anymore (not that thats complicated); there is an FSD 2.2 installer that will work directly off the jtag. If you're connected to the internet (not XBL) then you can directly update FSD and dashlaunch.
Full news from FSD was...
Quote: | Well here is a new tool from TeamFSD just for you.
It allows you to do either a local, or online install of FSD and Dashlaunch.
It can be run from either LIVE, DVD, or Extracted (packages included)
Live package needs to be copied to Content\0000000000000000 in order to show up in NXE
Basically a one stop shop. Run from media of choice, choose where to install, what to install and where to get media (local or internet) and press go.
When installing Dashlaunch it will setup the launch on startup for the requested FSD install dir |

Are people having issues with 14699 or what?
Is there any other reason to update other than some Kinect-compatibility?
