i would agree if was a random file every time, not the same file. (from what i read in the swtor forum)
he can try to copy the whole game on another partition, and i bet that the same file will have that problem.
in case of ram/hdd problems, files are affected randomly.

itsd a launcher, not a scan my pc and check for any errors and anomalies utility program lol.
Him blaming the launcher tho is rather stupid and his whining and bitching doesnt motivate anyone to actually helping him, sorry.

bored at work, really slow day here, 1 more h until i can get home, and this is an interesting problem.
if i was affected by this, i would ask a friend to make me a torrent with the whole patched game,in one archive, and until i got it, i would run a mem/hdd diag on my computer, reset bios at default and i would let just one stick of 4 GB ram on mb (i got 4 ). i dont trust http/ftp protocols in this particular case.
torrent complete, extract files, md5 comparing with my friend working copy. if md5 are the same, and launcher still is doing moronic stuff, i would extract the files on my virtual machine (another hdd), again with md5 checking. same if the md5 are different, i would extract the files on my virtual machine.
if after this i would still be unable to launch the game, i would bitch on swtor forum. even if my machine is probably the cause .
if md5 are different, the case is clear.

his friend can simply make a rar archive with a sfv file , and he extract it on his pc. Same thing, but easier ^^.

and its fixed. some guy posted on tor forums:
Quote: | Okay guys. I got it working.
Took the version files from a friend of mine - Put them in the SWTOR folder and it downloaded and updated fine.
I've just put both asset files in a rar file and uploaded it to 4shared.

So you prevented your computer from having to work hard and patching files, and just manually replaced the full things.
Yes - This works.
However, this doesn't change the fact that your PC is still fucked up, and the next time you goto patch it will likely fail again because your PC is shitting bricks when it is doing heavy read/write to the disk.

16kb files arent replacing shit thats important
theyre 16kb. thats kilo-bits. 1000 of them make a mega-byte!

Of course... like usual, whenever something is popular and actually successful people hate on it because people are assholes.

I think you mean "kilo-bytes," there. There's 8192 "kilo-bits" in a "mega-byte." Although you'd still be wrong, as there's 1024 "kilo-bytes" in a "mega-byte." You're thinking perhaps of the proposed value of a megabyte versus a mebibyte, but I'm not here to argue that distinction.
It's possible the problem was caused by: a firewall/internet security suite, anti-virus/anti-spyware/anti-malware, or peerblock/ipfilter. SWTOR's launcher seems to have issues with my peerblock and ipfilter sometimes despite the fact I make sure to add EA's IP's to my allow lists, its protocols just seem sensitive to any sort of control. Hell, the game is less stable if I tend to leave uTorrent running. That's not excusing it from being their fault - just mentioning one possible cause.
