ROFL. That would not surprise me. I take it that twitter message is the only bit of info on development revival we have so far?

The Stalker team continues work on the project and hopefully everything will turn out well. Good Hunting Stalkers! |
Good news!

And this is their previous tweet:
Quote: | Dear Stalkers: We will not be releasing any official news until around mid January. However there is cause for hope! Good hunting! |
Either the owner changed his mind (lolwut) or someone bought the team and rights from him, or the team has been re-hired but as an external studio just in order to finish work on it (think of Microsoft closing Ensemble Studios and then REHIRING them as Robot, now an independent studio, to work on Age of Empires Online), or maybe some Russian/Ukraine publisher eg 1C co-funds the game now.
Spoiler: | Or maybe Activision is really behind it |
We'll know soon enough..

It's good news and bad news at the same time imo. It sounds like they said "it's a successful series, let's do it anyway even if the resources are scarce. What if it will suck? Patience, people will probably buy it anyway so no loss".
Or maybe Consolitis is right

Still better than any other Western company with Activision's scope and intention.

And also full of one-man East European indie polish.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to reply to your implied question about the content of Leo Natan's post.
I believe that what he was trying to do is to ridicule the fact that even though STALKER series were made by a relatively big company, they still had a lot of bugs and glitches when released. You can observe that in the way he makes an ironic statement "full of one-man East European indie polish", which, in layman's terms, means that he is sure the game will not be properly developed when it's being made by one Eastern European individual that is not employed to a big company (the "indie" term, which does not mean he suggests that the Easter European is from India, it would make no sense). You can find out that the post is made as a joke by a so-called "lol" emoticon ( ), which, on nforce, stands mostly for ridiculing and not for real laughter. For the latter we use "rotflmao" ( ).
Feel free to write me back with any other questions you might have.
Hope this helps,
Neona

Trying to find where I read it but this is the story.
Derek Smart has changed his nationality to reflect his sincere interest in his newly aquired STALKER franchise. He believes him and his team of 5 now have the resources to created from the ground up the definitive fist person RPG simulation of stalkers in the zone. Using the Freespace engine he feels the look of the game will be "unlike anything out now or in the distant future." Dr. Smart wraps it up, "You will almost feel sick while playing, it is THAT immersive in it's new (SSF) Smart Simulation Form (trademark 3000AD Inc.) fans of the series will be speechless."
There ya have it. I read it.
I remember now. I wrote it down,,,,,then I read it.

STALKER may have been buggy, but holy shit... If Derek Smart takes over, you can kiss the game goodbye. His "games" are the buggiest, most overreaching broken pieces of trash ever constructed. Lofty ideals and goals, but hideous execution and lack of talent.

Yeah, they need cash. http://galyonkin.com/2012/01/12/nebolshoy-apdeyt-pro-stalker-2/
Quote: | Yavorsky talked to on the phone about STALKER 2. The situation is as follows: the team is currently in talks with potential investors, looking for people willing to invest in the development of the game. The project is still in limbo, but there is hope.
UPD: Grigorovich is not yet ready to make any statement to the public or the press. |
