He wants to legalize all drugs. Therefore the internet likes him.

... i know that... It's just that some people either love him or hate him. And i watched some videos of him where he's making a lot of sense but then there are some where he goes a bit crazy.
I was just wondering a bit about him? Some thoughts about him from Americans or someone who follows American politics...

Apart from the drugs, he also wants to pull ALL us troops back home, and I mean ALL.
He wants to audit the FED. He thinks marriage is not a federal issue. He's for cutting spending across the board. He doesn't support Obamacare.
The only sane republican candidate for presidency.
Oh, and he also thinks evolution is not a valid theory. Or he's a creationist. Something like that.

Or maybe the denouncing of Evolution could be just a publicity stunt.
He's trying to win the confidence of Americans after all!

Ron Paul has some very high benefits and some quite severe reprecussions to voting him into office. The good side is that Ron Paul has predicted a vast majority of the economic problems that have come our way due to certain actions being taken and will make some changes that are good for our country.
The bad side is that his solution to a large amount of problems are just batshit crazy, like he threw a die to figure it out. His Budget cuts are of considerable concern as he does eventually want just about everything to be handed over to privatization..which is fine once that is established, but in the mean time he will starve the government areas handling those situations of money. Some of those areas are worthwhile..some do deserve to be cut quite drastically.
He will repeal the health care law put in by Obama and will cut funds from Energy, HUD, Commerce, Interior, and Education. Education cuts could be quite severe and are already pretty tight. The implications of the Energy cuts would also wind up effecting things like Free heating for elderly and other smaller things. Education would result in an even worse education system for our youth, but I suppose those are the areas he picked for the whopping $1 trillion in cuts..which is quite nice.
Unfortunately some of this will also come from defense, as said above, all troops will come home which is good. I am unsure how I feel about the (I think 33%) budget cut from our DoD however.
TL;DR - He seems to be a good candidate on the outside, but he scares the living fuck out of me.

Aha i thought it might be something like that. I was watching some of his videos and he had some good points (especially since he's Republican) about the wars, corporation control and even drugs. But then in another video he's talking about God and basically no healthcare if you don't have money, so its kinda weird. I guess he would like to have government interference down to a minimum if i understand correctly...

That about sums it up, yes.
@Moosey
It's not just that, I understand change can be a good thing. There are things he would cut that would hurt alot of Americans in the time of need that we face right now. As a "For Instance", last winter I had some issues with my paychecks getting to me on time and I had to rely on the Energy Dept to give me a heat allowance. With the huge cuts they are proposing, those would very likely disappear.
While the cuts can be a good thing, there will be alot of bad things that can happy alongside of them in the interim period where private organizations can begin to fill that gap.

The guy has ideas that are completely impossible to implement unless you are a fan of inddirectly killing millions of people. Also he 'predicted' a lot of predictable shit. Aint no Nostradamus about him.

It is. The education system here is absolute garbage as it stands but it can only get worse.

He is the only normal guy out of all batshit crazy republican candidates. We'll look past the creationism.
He's libertarian, and too normal for republicans, therefore, sadly, he won't win

The daily show writes itself with those ridiculous republican candidates. Obama and the rest of the world rejoice!
There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

His popularity is quite low. Depends on how much you believe polls and shit though. While he did do good things, his promises (or what others thought he promised) were a bit too unrealistic imo.

I would have said Obama would be re-elected few months ago (even with his low popularity. Actually I'm not sure those popularity polls are very accurate at all.). When all the crazy republican candidates were in the news I didn't even realize they had anyone normal. But now there seem to be a few worthy contenders now that the crazies have been mostly eliminated.
