This game has seriously degraded in the last few weeks and something needs to be done about it definitely, I hope these fake-bans can be reversed and I would love to see a more agressive cheat detection put in place. I hope that this spurs EA on to integrating a new cheat protection - like steamworks+vac... if only they released on steam eh?
Heck, you can over-ride a PB-Hardware ban by changing your MAC address. (Well you could in the old days) |
Hacking PB is not the right way to tell your message. If you don't like the game because it sucks then just don't play it. Preveting other people from playing it just because you got banned for cheating is very stupid thing.
EA and DICE DO care about BF3 mp popularity so you can 'vote' with just not playing it at all. You can also contact developers trough several different channels so you can be sure that your message will be heard. If they dont care then just stop playing the game and move on.
There is thousands of people who still enjoy the game as it is now so why being an asshole and ban them even your damn issue is not caused by them?

Meh PB has been shit since CoD1 (my first game with PB) and they didn't change a single goddamn bit since 8 years ago..
They ban and ban and ban, but have gone wrong so often, but never actually admitted and totally ignored the people questioning them.
PB is garbage and shouldn't be used in any game anymore...

And i think my point was skewed, I see the positive side to this - they could have just done it silently and then "HAHAHA" at ea like 2-3 months down the line, but instead they shouted it out and made it public, so EA will find out how they did it, get EB to reverse the bans and hopefully fix things.
It's a protest of sorts, look at the camp in new york (occupy blah blah) they affected peoples day to day lives in order to get their message heard, technically it did fuck all, but BF3 community is much more vocal.
I still think the should die slowly in a cave somewhere with the rest of the trolls, but at the same time I'm happy in a way because something might actually get done to secure this game. |

What would you replace PB with though? Everything sucks. VAC/Steam is even more of a joke; the penalty for getting caught is higher, but the chance of getting caught is pretty much zero.
Only good anti-cheat experience I've had the last few years was Black Ops with spectating/recording and servers that actually had active admins on them. Some subtle hackers no doubt managed to fool people, but it was still a whole lot better than the automatic stuff.

Indeed Black Ops had best cheating protection I've seen so far. It wasn't perfect but it really worked. Battlerecorder was on 'to do' list at DICE but it looks we wont get it anytime soon.

Don't forget btw, those "streaming" servers are NOT streaming to PB.
They use websites that have a shared banlist (basically a community effort to keep more updated then PB itself), since PB doesn't actually do anything then automated bans (the obvious hacks).
So if you get PB banned by a streaming server, go to their site and check your guid (? donno if BF3 uses this, but some sort of ID should be there) and see if it's indeed on the MBL (Master Ban List) there.
Now being banned by the automated streaming isn't a full PB ban (as this can ONLY PB do), you just can't access servers with streaming enabled, tho normal PB (without them streaming) you can still access and play.
Here for example, PBBans is a similar website as GGC stream, tho before they shared their banlists and combined them. Now not anymore.

So this shows that GGC does fuck all together with Punkbuster, they just use their program to make their own community shared banlist

Meh. I only how to gain altitude. About manoeuvres... Don't even make me start.
No, I actually never tried to drive chopper or a jet seriously. I just hop on sometimes just to have some fun and unleash my "suicidal atack" skill .
But I can be a good gunner. 
How do you guys fly these shits? KB+M, gamepad or stick?

i do fine with a kb+m............takes some practice though not to hit those goddamn lamp posts
my advice is to play as a heli gunner , you can do a serious amount of kills so that you can unlock some stuff

I actually care much about teamplay. So I don't aim to unlock new stuff, gain score etc. I'm good with engineer, repairing and supporting tanks with rockets.
So not being able to fly doesn't matter much.

I'm using m+kb but just because I'm too lazy to re-relearn the basics with the controller. 
Not that I have skills or anything..although lately I've been trying to get better with teh flying objects (with poor results )

Lol, yeah, i hate the admin ruling on some weapons like smaw/m320 but allow USaS+Frags which is like a shoulder mounted BMP2... |
