I agree. That's why I never cared about the Paragon/Renegade shit, each time I just replied with what I thought I would have replied in a similar situation.

I think that whole good/evil, lightside/darkside or paragon/renegade thing Bioware is doing is limiting your choices. It force you into a given direction if you want to reap the rewards of a specific side instead of just letting you play the game like you want to. In SWTOR, as an example, people just took light or dark side based on what faction they belonged to. I was neutral at lvl50 because I tried roleplaying the bounty hunter class. The effect was that I couldn't use a lot of equipment.

Yeah, it was really bad in SWTOR. I don't miss that game for a single second ...

Same here. |
Same here too. The only difference is I always end up with a 100% Paragon, 15% Renegade character. "Fun" is obviously a very subjective term.
After all, Shepard is working as a council spectre and towards unification of all known galactic races against the reapers.
This brings a lot of reponsibilities with it. A diplomatic approach and foresight is advised in this case. A public image is to be cultivated.
Paragon can partly be seen as a grande manipulation scheme;
Weaving a network of trustworthy contacts is useful, even more so if they owe you some kind of debt.
Thankful debtors make useful assets.
Generosity also conveys a sense of moral integrity, superiority and emotional stability.
But going PURELY Paragon is indeed naive and showing weakness sometimes, that's why there are the % Renegade.
Some situations require determined action and certain "certain" enemies should never be appeased.
Team members also have their needs, doubts and issues.
A good Commander who wants to secure respect, loyalty and ultimately friendship shows compassion and sincerity in such situations.
If tensions arise, they need to be alleviated.
This applies to both Commander-Crew and Inter-Crew relationships.
If you take away the emotions, this is purely a matter of crew efficiency and pre-emptive suppression of seditious tendencies.
Being nice and subtle can also be a sophisticated form of malignant opportunism.
Powerful people know this, and that is why we are steering towards Brave New World and not 1984. (both novels are outdated, but the metaphor is still valid)

Apparently it's a good idea to also save your ME3 save files as I guess they can be imported somewhere else?
(ME 3.5 / ME 3/2 ?) |
The new Facebook interactive novel obviously.

Please moderate yourself! You know as well as most of us that Bioware products are not always 100% perfect at release (typically only 94-95% epic). They are working on a patch for it as we speak, and the new prints will contain the update. Those who have already bought the book will most likely get this BOTY edition as DLC.

We'll see Bioware, we'll see..
I'm in the middle of my first and only ME2 playthrough (started 2 years ago ) and the levels' structure is really pissing me off, with all the advance->cover->pewpew->dialogue/cutscene, rinse and repeat.
I'm even considering skipping the few loyalty missions left, since it's nothing but the same stuff but set in different planets (where "planets=corridors").
Mass Effect 3 better be more open or I'm going to skip the game and read the story on Wikipedia. Or even better, I'll sit on my couch and start the "Story Mode"

When was this series ever open? ME2 has more packed and detailed levels compared to ME1. ME1 wasn't open, it was a collection of empty useless spaces.

The first ME wasn't perfect but had the structure of an action-RPG with focus on exploration while the sequel is basically a third person shooter a-la Gears of War + extra-light RPG elements, big difference if you ask me.

the best idea/mission of ME2 was that planet where the sun burned you and you had to stay in the shadow. why can't they make more stuff like this? give the planets some uniqueness that actually affects the gameplay. ffs. there's so many possibilities.

So true ...once again Laurentiu is right ( \o/ ). I haven't completed the game yet but that one was one of the most interesting missions, where you actually had to "plan" the fight and use some strategy. The execution was still weak, but it was something
