|

Hi guys. Since I've reinstalled win7 on fresh today, I am wondering about video playback.
I am always using mpc home cinema from that russian site (where new versions are released almost daily) and cccp codec pack.
I like to keep thing cleen and as vanilla as it can be. No additionals players, or stupid things that come in those codecs packages - no trash.
I've noticed that basicly I have best quality on default media player on win7. Blacka are black and it works fast. Subtitles are handed by cccp and everything is rather allright.
But I am also using media player classic home cinema for some files and I always had problems, setting what output should it be set to. dx9 or eversync or whatever.
it only resoults in black is grey vs black is black differences.
Ive tried VLC but blacks are grey in there.
Anyway. Should I stay with my current combination or install something else?

Remove all codec crap and get daum player (pot player) [I still prefer the kmplayer though].
You use an 8800GT. Go to your Driver settings, search for the video color settings. use the 0-255 setting and blacks will be black.

Or just use VMR9 as renderer instead of EVR, and blacks will be blacks. But it is indeed best to set nVidia to use proper settings.

Why are You recommending other player than the one You use?
my nvidia cp settings are default now:
under video tab "use video player settings" tab is checked.
I have to uncheck it and select 0-255 and then use mpc home without any codec packs?

Well pot player plays much more stuff and crashes less.
KM Player somehow feels better, I am used to it's keyboard layout too and somehow I like the image quality more. But I guess that is due to my laziness to configure pot player properly

Your thread is not about movies or specific titles its more app/software related. Surely 'Encoders Heaven' would have been more suited.
As the forum states:
*Having problems ripping a movie? Don't know which apps or settings are the best? Try looking in here.*

If your monitor is calibrated properly along with having a proper calibration file loaded in windows you shouldn't need to touch the nvidia control panel.
