Basically there was this monk unit that shouted "wololo" and converted enemies units into yours. Just crossed my mind when I read the triple "lololo" comment.
It was one of the best tactics in the game btw. |
How many memories..Age of Empires <3
I remember that my mother didn't want to buy me the game because I used to spend entire evenings playing the demo like a true addict I won in the end, but just because I had good grades at school

I never touch or care for the fov settings, haven't realized it's such a big issue for so many people... |
The real problem is medical, some people can get nauseous from it. Compare it to motion sickness. I was glad when the demo was over because I almost had to go puke after those 15 minutes. Some people simply "aren't bothered" by it just like you said, their eyes just don't give a fuck if what they see is not entirely as-expected.
First person shooters are the easiest games to get sick from since they're fast and emulating a...well....first person look.
There's nothing really wrong with the FOV but they intended it for the "ideal TV setup" regarding size / viewing distance. That same ingame FOV doesn't translate well if you're watching it up close on a PC monitor since you can't have the WHOLE screen in focus like you usually have the TV, that's why you need to increase FOV so your peripheral vision could be relaxed. With improper FOV you're eyes are expecting to see more, that part of the screen you can't focus on and it fucks you up and it feels extremely narrow, unnatural.
You increase FOV so you could see the same thing that dude can in front of a TV, making it look natural for your specific screen size and viewing distance. You don't really see the extra parts because they're not in focus, only a spectator can notice that.
At least Nixxes knew this while porting DXHR to PC and added FOV options.
The FOV story in 3 pictures (the amount of the world you see), don't ask about the overlay (weapons, HUD)

Fov effected more noticeable on larger monitor's
i've got a 30' HP and yes its a bummer with a small FOV
So suck it up play the game with it faults or be a whinner puss boy
I'm glad I got working despite the bad crack releases
Its just a game port to begin with a mediocre story line and graphics

wow............that was incredibly short and linear.
installed it at 8:30 and finished at 11:30, found 90% of the relics too and talked to every npc in the down time between levels.
what happened to the more real art direction of the first one? cell shaded bullshit, Thia is so short and linear I would kick myself if I shelled out 1 cents for it.

this game is shockingly bad, a terrible beyond words console port with textures from Doom 2.

Yeah, I hated the demo. Now i've fixed the 16:10 aspect stretching using the NvidiaCP GPU Aspect ratio scaling I've managed to get it to display at 16:9 but with black bars. The actual game was a decent time waster, not a fan of the cartoon visuals but I like the combat.

That's a pretty good explanation. Still the current fov doesn't bother me, what bothers me is that the developers won't implement such a desired option. Makes them look lazy, perhaps in the future they'll do it but until then, just lazy!

You have to enable it ingame, weird0 matey, set up a hotkey from the config tab and then use that hotkey to activate/deactivate on the fly =) Mine's set up for CTRL+SHIFT+\ and that toggles on the fly, it's great and really does work.

I'm trying 85 and it looks a bit TOO fish eye, so I'm gonna experiment and try 75 instead. Be right back.
Done. FOV75 and I also manually selected 16:10 ratio, as opposed to leaving it on auto. I like it.

I've got some weird-ass performance issue at the moment though. Runs locked at 60 for 99% of the time, but randomly drops down to 45 or so and sticks there for a few seconds. It's bugging the hell out of me.

I really, really like this game. A lot. Having a proper blast with it right now... despite the changes from the first game.

Like others have said, about 6 hours but I played it in a two day span. The story was interesting and kept me playing it. If it was any longer I would get bored, it was a nice mix of story and gameplay and any longer it would of dried out imo.

yup, it was a bit like a one night stand, you wish it could have lasted longer, but you know there are reasons it didn't.
