Steam workshop was down for while, that's why nothing worked. Smile

I don't use it myself as I prefer to have more direct control of mods and load order amongst other things so I rarely ever use the launcher but I found the above info pretty easily on the Bethsoft forums. Smile

This reminds me of the Ubisoft DRM where you can't play your legally owned games when the servers are down, while the pirates have no such problems. Cool Face

There is one significant benefit to the Workshop and it's what is actually causing the current issue, and that's the subscription feature. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone when I speak of the horror of keeping a hundred and one random mods/plugins for Beth titles up to date with the latest versions. With the Workshop, that's done for you.

Any way to fix quest journal bug? I have completed some quests but journal entries won't disappear. For example, Collect bounty from Skald (after killing the dragon) and there is one talk to Brother Verulus about Hall of the Dead or something like that.

A number of console commands have to be used, looks up the quest via UESP or such - http://www.uesp.net/ just search for the particular quest or similar and there should be a bugs or tips section with more information. Smile

I feel your pain xD. I was in the same situation as you when my HDD died and had to reinstall the game after the format Razz

Also I'm pretty sure that I forgot the ~20-30% of the mods that I had installed before Laughing

It's not even needed any more, is it? The last I heard, the 1.4 patch bought significant performance gains with it - enough to render Skyboost moot.

Finally took some time to tweak the game properly, runs and looks amazingly now(just some ini tweaks, no FXAA bollocks). So Much Win



However, I get the feeling that bethesda somehow messed with the lods on this last patch... hmmm

The game seemed to have been bottlenecked on my rig before the 1.4 update. In cities, both my GPU usage would drop to around 50% and fps would drop as a result. Now after the 1.4 update, my GPU usage keeps going until my fps maxes out at 120. Loving this patch!!! Smile

Can you post some screens and ini configuration? Because FXAA/ENB series causing lag for me, not only in Skyrim but also in older games like Alien vs Predator Classic 2000 and Deus Ex 1.

ENB is pretty demanding, FXAA injector shouldn't be that heavy although come to think of it that would depend on what other features are used.
(FXAA itself wouldn't really be needed since Skyrim supports it natively, though I use SMAA instead and ENB but yeah that will affect framerate.)

EDIT: Cut shadow distance in exteriors down from 10.000 (8.000 default.) to 5.000 and though you can see some pop-in the detail increase on near shadows are quite a improvement.
(But if you want really sharp shadows you need to use a value of like 500 or so as the highest due to how the system works, even with 4096 base shadow resolution and other tweaks.)

It depends on the ENB version used I believe, especially those older versions or when used on a not supported game it can get quite demanding.

In Skyrim I take ca a 20 frame hit when using ENB and that's without SSAO (Since it glitches easily I don't use it but yeah it has a really heavy framerate hit when used.), 1.0.5 fixed this but it had other bugs and was abandoned so it's back to 1.0.3 for now.

Come to think of it if ENB is what you are using could you post the contents of the ENB.ini file you are currently on. Smile
(That way it's pretty easy to narrow down what sort of performance impact you get, especially if SSAO and depth of field are active though bloom itself can also hit framerate if the quality value is lowered - thus increasing visual quality as 0 is high, 1 is normal and 2 is low.)
