I'd agree with KillerCrocker, not tried pixeljunk shooter or Enslaved though
Killzone 2 felt a bit stiff to control but was a decent fps
I was very disappointed with Brutal Legend even though I got it cheap
Resistance is like an older pc fps, like we used to get, couldn't play the 2nd as it went all CoD on me, seriously, I put it on right after finishing the 1st but had to put it back in it's box where it's stayed ever since
Vanquish is a nice game, like Gears of War I suppose but I enjoyed it a lot more
Bayonetta was fun, very Devil May Cry
Demons Souls and Dark Souls if you're up for a challenge
Castlevania Lords of Shadow, it's God of War mixed with a little Shadow of the Colossus

Are you looking for exclusives only or do you also own an xbox?
Heavy Rain and GoW3 are definitely 100% worth getting.
Super Stardust is good.
Mortal Kombat
Infamous 2 was ok.

Yes it does... but, as always, you have to wait for the TB team to put out the fix. Usually within a few days of release.

Heavy Rain, Uncharted 1-3, GoW3 - those are all very good games.
Also, InFamous 1-2 (if you like superhero games), Killzone 2-3 (a good enough shooter with rather nice graphics), Demon/Dark Souls (if you like challenging, old-school RPGs), Enslaved (a fun action-adventure game), Darkness (shooter - good game, very atmospheric) plus some HD conversions (Shadow of the Collosus, ICO, God of War 1&2 and PSP).
There are probably more, but that's what comes to mind at first. Personally, I would start off with Heavy Rain and Uncharted games. Can't go wrong with those.

I really enjoyed Enslaved, underated game imo and well worth a play through.

I'm sorry, but KZ is aweful. Mechanics aside (I hate auto aim with every fibre in my body; and gamepads are too slow for manual aiming), it is so fucking generic
I really don't get what the hype is about; it doesn't even look that great, courtesy of VaselineAA™ (one of the prettiest games, but still ruined because of that).
In fact, if you're like me and actually like shooters on the PC, don't bother with just about every shooter on the PS3. I'm playing through RDR because I just want to see how it plays out, but I'm hating R* more and more for not bringing that to the PC. Shooting mechanics on consoles are just plain aweful. Either you have the game doing it for you, or you get fucked because you can't react quick or accurately enough.
Mortal Kombat is absolutely brilliant, absolutely love that. Rayman: Origins is also absolutely fantastic (although you can just as easily emulate that on a PC). Heavy Rain is also good.
Whatever you do, don't waste a dime on GT5. It's not as good as other arcade titles and despite its "real driving simulator" tag, it's an unrealistic piece of crap that is far outclassed by Shift 1+2 (and from what I hear Forza as well).

All has been told here I think...All HD Collection games are great, you can add Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Beyond good & evil hd, but these are available on 360 too.
LA Noire is nice too, but then again, it's a 360 game. All PS3 exclusives has been already told about here, so basically pretty much all exclusives are worth it, except the Infamous series and Resistance, which are really nothing to be amazed about.
My favorite ps3 games are definitely God of War 3 and HEavy rain.

Personally I thought all the killzones were a little bit meh, as too for Resistance. I like FPS's but I don't like generic clones made pretty.
Generally speaking, and I can't think of many exceptions (well, Final Fantasy springs to mind), if a game is out on both platforms, it comes out on top for the xbox or on par if you're lucky (and I'm happy to back this up using digital foundry before the flames start).
Flower I thought was an interesting game. Awesome to just mong out to.

oh btw the ratchet & clank series is amazing as well, definitely an exclusive serie to play (except Ratchet All 4 One, it's dodgy, specially since it runs at 30 fps for a plat former and not even prettier than Ratchet 1, 2, 3...)

Resistance FoM is far from pretty, I thought it was awful until I spent some time with it. It wasn't anything spectacular but was a really nice change from all the CoD inspired FPS's that have been released ever since.
Heavenly Sword was getting some good press on release but I've not played it much

My recommendations:
- Tales of Vesperia (with english guide)
- Demon's Souls
- Flower
- The Darkness
- Eternal Sonata
- Valkyrie Chronicles
- Child Of Eden
- Yakuza 3 and Yakuza 4 are great, imo Yakuza 4 is a masterpiece especially in camera usage.
