OK. been fiddling around with options. Biggest fps hitters are ssao, volumetric lighting and shadows.

best performance/look for me are then:
aax2
fxaa low
afx4
vertical sync off
1280x800 (20fpsdrop with 1680)
ssao low
backdrop medium
volumetric low
distance max
lod max

Witho those options I get 35-40 outside and 60 inside small buildings. Still it feels more laggier than 360 version. Pc needs 60fps at all times. So basicly my pc is doing the same options as 360 version does and performs only a little bit better. Yep Laughing

I forgot how good this game is tho. Ive finished it 2 times on 360 but its even better than i remember

Not bad, GPU usage at 99%/75% atleast AMD got it working quite properly with this one ^_^

Yep, crashed after getting the revolver. Camera angle is a bit strange, takes some getting used to.

Now, performance: 50-52 FPS average - goes up and down a little, but it's fairly constant. For settings, see the spoiler. GPU usage 100%, CPU usage about 45/30/45/45 - ish. That's a 6950 2GB unlocked @ 6970 clocks (so 6970/570 owners: this is what you'll get), i5-760 @ 4.2.

 Spoiler:

So in short:
- Quadcore does help
- Munches away at GPU
- Decent-ish port

Not entirely sure performance couldn't be better, because while lighting is pretty darn awesome (obviously), there's not much else it has to deal with.

Edit: and no, FXAA is not an option instead of MSAA for me, I find FXAA and MLAA disgusting to look at compared to MSAA.

Not bad, not bad. Can you take a wild guess what my perfornance will be? (everything max but without any sort of AA and at 1680x1050 reso.)

Actually, without FXAA (stupid Saus Razz) the game looks better than I personally expected it to. I do suspect that they haven't got multiple codepaths to take advantage of architecture, and I'm pretty sure they're wasting shader power, so performance could definitely be better.

That said, the lighting is good and it does have proper MSAA which most games still don't. Textures are much better than other games as well. Don't forget that proper lighting like this munches away at shader power as if it's nothing. That'll also explain why it runs slightly better on a 6970 than on a 570 (my FPS is actually pretty much perfectly in line with the PCGH benches).

I have to eat some of my words from earlier, because it really doesn't look bad - in fact, as far as console ports go, it looks better than 99% of them. There's definitely some lost performance though, there's nothing that would suggest my system being limited this badly. I'll reserve my final statement on this until I can actually properly play and take a good look at the lighting. I quite literally played for 3 minutes until it crashed, so I may be mistaken about the lighting actually being as good as it seemed at first glance; I just wanted to get through the boring tutorial bullshit quickly Smile

@ H4wkeye: yep, 1080p.

@ aeon: Doesn't show a sig for me Razz

With that GPU, I wouldn't expect much more than somewhere between 20 and 25 FPS at 1080p; 1680x1050 might get you up to about 25-ish.

Edit @ toni+garus: I know, right? Very Happy

Honestly, I don't know why, but I've just got 0 interest in Skyrim at the moment. I really don't know what it is Sad

Wonder what my heavily OC'd 560 ti will be able to handle. I hope for at least a 45 min fps, but if those benchmarks were indeed correct, then it won't do that.

You should get that. My 560 Ti, which is limited by the C2D CPU, does quite well. It goes from 30 to even 60 (with an average between them I guess). I don't have a problem with not getting a lot of fps like others seem to want, but I do have to say that the fps not being constant is a bit annoying.

stupid question eh? i can play this with my gts250 and q6600 on medium and 1080p.
this game is like 3 years old... so it should run on your system pretty good.

that is like the first singleplayer game since limbo that i really enjoy.
games like this are rare and should be played by everyone.

let's see how long it will take till the next good singleplayer games come out.
