I'm going to buy it because I want American Nightmare (and the eventual Alan Wake 2, and whatever else Remedy makes in the future) on PC, and that's the best way to improve the chances of that happening.
Correcting people since 2007 even if they're not wrong.

stupid question eh? i can play this with my gts250 and q6600 on medium and 1080p.
this game is like 3 years old... so it should run on your system pretty good.
that is like the first singleplayer game since limbo that i really enjoy.
games like this are rare and should be played by everyone.
let's see how long it will take till the next good singleplayer games come out. |
q6600@ 2.4ghz and GTX 460 1GB, I play at 1680x1050 with vsync on, 2x AA(FXAA High), 8x Ani, shadows at medium, LOD and Draw distance at 50%, everything else at High. Feels very smooth.
Haven't noticed any difference between medium and high shadows, put perforce hit is very severe.
IMHO, with Draw distance at 50% game feels more atmospheric.

Guys do you know why the game looks like this ??? The Pc can handle it ... Amd x6 1090T 3 ghz , nvidia gtx 560 ti Oc edition , 4 ddr 3 at 1600 ....
I maxed it out in 1080 p 57-62 frames but the textures on the grass and so many things are fucked ... i updated the video driver and nothing ...why ?
This is how it looks

Runs as well as it can on my rig, meaning all maxxed out, lol... GPU was cranking up the heat as I haven't cleaned the system since I put it together @ xmas... Now it doesn't go over 65c while playing, and the gpu is pegged at 99% nice... Can't remember the last game that ran at 99% GPU

Installed, launched, saw the shitty camera angle and deleted 10mins after (it also crashed on me after using Flare gun). Someties devs are trying too hard to be original, like they couldn't set the camera angle straight behind Alan's back, no, they had came up with some reatded idea to move it left or right. Fucking morons.

NVIDIA SLI not working at all. Setting it on AFR 1 or 2 yields far worse results than simply running it on a single 460.
Runs at about 35-40 FPS at 1920x1200, 2x AA, 16xAF, FXAA Off, SSAO off, both sliders at around 75%, everything else on High.
Also, despite the fact that you can remap controls to keys on the numpad, actually pushing the key does nothing in game. The game doesn't recognize mouse thumb buttons either. Another developer that thinks mice only have 2 buttons.
Edit - Also, the camera fucking sucks. It's like the character is constantly drifting to the left/right, and I have to fucking battle it to keep him running straight.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

@locke
It's a gameplay thing and definitely nowhere near as annoying as a shitty FOV. Try again, the story and music alone are worth it.
@Sin
^^ Yes, IMO it is excellent. Loved the 360 version and no doubt I'll love this one too ... bought the 360 and buying this one.

Wow! Runs great, feels great. Besides that, I just fucking remembered how the story makes you feel, how you become Alan Wake while playing this.
Man, Remedy is really good at this. And after a year and a half forgetting the story(Because of the fucking DLCs, I couldn't play the last two episodes, and forgot about the game completely) came in handy.
I'm gonna finish this with one sitting, tomorrow night. And I'll buy the boxed edition, and play it again on the hardest setting.

This game is absolutely great, I don't remember, when a game drew me in like this only after the first chapter. The atmosphere is simply fucking great. I'm loving it completely. Also, it works pretty well.

THAT !
The camera is definitely fucked up because you constantly need to adjust his position, it's like playing Dirt 2 with a damaged vehicle
Anyone received a crash exactly after entering the lighthouse when the cinematic started ?

Those BIKs are really bugging me, just like they did in DX:HR, there's just no need for it and - IMO - detracts from the enjoyment of the game far more than some dodgy camera placement. Bah!

Not seeing THETA release up on nzbsr or nzbm. Won't touch torrent with a ten foot pole. Sounds like a game worth playing. I love some good atmospheric scary games.

It never lets up either, the atmosphere is incredible and the story just gets better as you go on.
