Don't forget, THeTA users, if you want your saves to work with the Skidrow update/crack then you need to copy the contents of XXXX_swarm (in your Alan Wake folder) to;

C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Local\SKIDROW\108710\Storage\

Also... has anyone seen the WINS folder? Try opening one of the many files in Notepad;

Blegh, mouse feel isn'tl good, must be some kind of acceleration. And the camera, well, you get used to it. Great game so far, like I'm watching a movie Very Happy

And oh, ''Like Nicholson in the Shining'' that part made me smile, because it fitted perfectly Smile

There's more allusion to the shining later on Smile

I think this is the best story Stephen King ever wrote from those, which actually were written by someone else Cool Face

Bought it, definitely supporting the decent job they've done in the hope they make good on the hints of the new one coming to PC sooner rather than later.

is anyone else seeing flickering on most of the sprites in sunlight on nvidia? (tree leaves, fences, painted signs on the road, etc) seems to do with SSAO, higher the setting = more flickering.

tried a few diff drivers (gtx480), 285.62, 290.53, 295.51 but they all seem as bad as each other. tried the other obvious stuff also, forcing AA/AF/lod bias/pre-rendered frames on/off etc, nothing helps atm.

No flickering here, languid. I'm running a GTX570 with max settings and I've tried two different driver versions so far; 285.62 and 290.53 -- no flickering at all.

Yep, occasionally have this. Borders of some big distant trees flicker during sunlight. During ferry ride only very few flickered, but there were much trees with this problem at cabin on island while walking on a bridge.

So far tried only Skidrow release.

GTX 460 1GB, 290.53

Finished it. Classic SP storytelling structure at its best. 9/10 for what it is.

alright thanks man, guess it is some issue with the 400 series if the 500 are ok. i only really noticed it in act2, and now i have noticed it i can't unsee! hopefully nv or remedy will sort it out sooner than later.

I'm on a 470 and I'm not getting flickering but remedy said they thought it was an xp issue but they have reports on 7 and it's their highest priority.

Funny, how in many review sites I read this game takes 6-8 hours. I'm already at 8, and just started episode 5, and it's not because I die a lot, it's because I love the atmosphere and don't sprint, look for hidden caches, manuscript pages and the likes. I will be replaying it on nightmare as well for the manuscripts.

My GF started playing it as well - scares the shit out of her Smile women Cool Face. But to be honest, the atmosphere is thick, so no wonder it's sometimes scary.

I use 2 GTX 470s in SLI and when playing with 3D Vision this game maxes out both GPU's. It looks as though SLI is working but I'm not sure if it increases the fps or not. Its very smooth playing at max settings with 3D Vision so can't be arsed to check framerate with SLI on & off.

Hmmm im obviously missing something , i gave it up until the third chapter before uninstalling it , visuals were nice enough but the gameplay felt clunky and sloppy , from what i played of it it had a silent hill feel to it which is a good thing but the main charater is a seriously heavy chain smoker with asthma and possibly copd coupled with a dodgy knee and that ruined part of it for me , i know normally you cant run very far due to level design or short levels but i was literally running 10 paces before slowing to a snails pace , and those energizer batteries lol ? not a very good advertisment for those.
Ill reinstall it again at some point im sure but atm it left a sour taste with me.

I just finished it on normal, took ~10 or so hours.

Man, what an absolutely amazing atmosphere this game had! THIS is how you do horror - not the cheap jump out you shit that other games opt for, but a slow, steady, almost claustrophobic sense of impending doom and hopelessness. Great voice acting and writing to boot!

Going to play the 2 DLC's soon, and then try for a replay on Nightmare so I can find all the missing manuscript pages. The audio voiced manuscripts are just as well done as the main game itself. I'd really like to find em all and have a full read through in one go.

Also, I thought I was being thorough, but 0 / 10 Minigames found on my first run through. Fail. I probably ran across some and just didn't realize they were usable - only found out due to the stats screen. Sad

disabling multisampling in nv control panel sorts it, seems like the game will force x2 on its own otherwise. now running through the various smaa/fxaa injectors to see which looks best without any msaa :/ tried ssaa briefly but it only draws to one segment of the screen, no flickering with it though.
