I really liked the game, but jebus it was really short.. I'd feel slightly cheated if i had payed full price for this game.

Makes me wonder if i should go buy the original for my PS3, should be rather cheap now.

(Finally) finished it, what a nice surprise. The demo didn't impress me that much, mostly because the action-packed levels had no cohesion, but the full game..I really liked it. It's consolish, linear and quite short, but fun, and the mix of shooting + powers worked perfectly well.

The story was also pretty satisfying (I got the "true" ending) and everything from animations /visuals to music and voice acting was great. I's say it's a solid 8/10.

PS: I still want to play the first one Crying or Very sad

i just beaten this so so game after playing for several days off and on. it feels like it took around 7h total though. Smile

the graphic is nice at 2560x1600 especially at the brothel. lots of wild stuff going on as you can peek through the doors. the female models in this game is top notch. especially, jenny. i like the ending scene where you kiss her and held her in your arms in 1st person view. great porno idea? Very Happy

perfect xb360 pad for maximum fun. Razz

the story is rather boring. i skipped most of the cinematics and conversation options so i really don't know too much about the story. Sad

i really don't like the hud. with the two tentacles onscreen, it really makes your view feels obstructed and annoying after a while. Mad

you get new game+ after you beat the main campaign. i suppose one could go back and get all the relics. or play vendettas mode. which i'll do if i get bored with other games to come back to this. otherwise, it's time for the next game! Wink

stat:

relics: 11/29

Just finished it and I have to admit it was better than I expected.

The demo felt average at best, but the full game is actually pretty fun. The vendetta side missions seem kind of interesting, too. Might be worth playing through those just to find the other relics.

I have sometimes that the game is stuttering. But when i turn off vsync i don't have those stutters. Is there a way to turn off vsync without having tearing.

I disabled VSync via in-game Options, then created myself a profile for DarknessII.exe in D3D Overrider with both 'Force VSync' and 'Force triple buffering' set to ON and that has helped me to greatly reduce the stuttering issue. It's still there but is far less of a problem. Smile

Can someone give me a rundown of the first game before I play this, in some spoiler tags? It's downloading at the moment

Better yet, is there a site that deals with this sort of thing? Explains stories and so on for games you haven't played?

There's a pretty cool (but swift) explanation of the story when you start a new game, i don't really think there's much more to know than what the game mentions at that point

Thanks for that, I just watched it

I also played for maybe 20 minutes, but I can no longer. The shooting feels decent but the FOV is horrid and I read they're going to patch it, I'll wait till then

It's probably best to wait for an official version, but there IS an unofficial fix out; WidescreenFixer.

http://www.widescreenfixer.org/

It's got a plugin for Darkness II and it works rather well, though the trade-off due to the forced FOV is that you gain a bit of fish-eye effect.

just finished this, damn what a good game, reminded me alot of max payne; the graphics were best for this kind of atmosphere and story. Like everyone said, its too short, dont know if it passes 5 hours, but definitely was a fun ride; and those emotional moments with jenny were really great put into the whole thing Smile. Great game again

Agreed completely Smile. It's short but extremely intense, maybe the devs could have added some more levels but who knows, they could have ruined the perfect pace.

Doesn't that work?
(Apparently vertical FoV so a lower value than normal is correct, 60 to 70 or such I believe it was, of course higher for multi-monitor users.)

http://www.widescreenfixer.org/

Or did you mean via a patch.
(No patch released so far.)

EDIT: Or maybe vertical was for Amalur, still any higher than 65 and I can see the end of the weapon model which is probably not meant to happen.
(Polygon saving so there's just a hole in the stock or you see Johny's dislocated arm, ha ha.)

Do you have proper violence in the game guys? I have seen on many vids that the tentacles have brutal finishers like ripping guy's spine out, ripping them apart or shattering the skull. I have nothing like more like aussie german version. SKIDROW RLS.
