  • Developer: Mistwalker
  • Genre: RPG
  • Release date: Out now
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:

While the mainland of the Empire faces both conflict and the slow creep of the
dying land, there is one region that continues to prosper - Lazulis Island.
The key to the island's defences is a battery of mighty guns,
which exude some strange magic that seems to draw monsters in.

The young mercenary Zael, along with a band of fellow adventurers,
comes to the island in the hope of finding more work. Their new employer is none
other than the ruler of the island himself, Count Arganan. If they can meet the
Count's expectations then there is some hope that their unstable mercenary existence could become a thing of the past. For Zael and his companions, who dream of a stable life as knights, this job represents a chance they may never get again.

Then, during their exploration of a cave as part of their first mission,
Zael obtains a mysterious new power...

  • Multiplayer: Yes

Suprised there wasn't already a thread about this game as it's being hailed by some folk as the second coming. I obtained a copy this morning but won't get to try it until later!

You've got a decent PC, haven't you mate? Just grab Dolphin. Hell.. I'VE got a real Wii, but it never sees any use - I run all my Wii titles on Dolphin.

I thought all modern Wii games required that gay ass motion control thingie which can't be emulated properly (like the latest Zelda Sad ). Is that not the case?

PS. How much would it cost me to use the Wii motion thing on my PC? Are they even sold seperately?

Naw, that's a design choice - not a requirement. TLS can be played on the gamepad =)

>> Dolphin gameplay of the JP version. Only requirement is "EFB Copy to RAM" which is usually pretty costly in terms of performance, but this dude runs it 30fps locked (60VPS)... on an i7-26k Razz Sorry, correction.. the VIDEO comes from someone with an E5300 at 3.6Ghz. The game was tested fine on the Dolphin wiki (3.0-415) with an i7-26k.

Only just saw your other question; simple answer? About $20 tops. The M+ addon is pretty cheap these days and it works just fine on the PC with a real wiimote and a bluetooth dongle.

preordered the collectors edition and my copy was shipped yesterday. should arrive soon Smile
really happy they decided to bring this game to the west.

I think I'll just play this on the wii though after I had issues with xenoblade on dolphin.
I could never quite get rid of the sound issues and random slowdown. way more annoying than the low resolution of the wii..

Same here. Only recently bought a Wii actually as I was using Dolphin but couldn't run Xenoblade well enough (not that suprising with my specs, to be fair). £60 off of Ebay, well worth it.

With that Wi-U upcoming, prices of the Wii dropped dramatically. You can get used ones really cheap by now.

The Wii-U will be fully backwards compatible with Wii, so it's probably better just to wait for that one. I can't find a used Wii for cheaper than 100 euros here.

A new set costs 125 here, but sadly people seem to think they're special so their two year old console should cost 100 bucks. I never bought from Ebay before, maybe I'll try. Thanks for the suggestion.
Any price info about the Wii-U?

That's because the average consumer is too dumb to realise that electronics lose their value faster than say, a car. In fact, most don't realise value drops to begin with.

"But I bought my computer for 700 EUR 2.5 years ago, so it must be worth at least 500!"

Well, my father still thinks the LCD TV he bought seven years ago for 1500 should be better than the LED he bought recently for 1000 euros. That's the average consumer for ya.

Why the fuck didn't you manually save? Shocked Though to be honest, I know your pain... I really do. Forgetting to save while playing a huge RPG is something I do with alarming frequency - so much so that my wife put a postit note on my monitor with huge letters saying "SAVE!" Very Happy

Wii really seems to be owning jRPGs this generation. Sadly, my PC is not good enough for Dolphin, so I'll have to wait a bit for this and Xenoblade Chronicles Sad

Damn. Well, thanks for the advance warning.. I'll make sure NOT to rely on autosaves (especially when emulating, which could crash at any moment)

~edit~

Oh-- wait a minute! Dude, are you SURE you've lost progress? I just checked and the CHECKPOINT (auto) saves are actually located in a menu to the LEFT of the save slots.

Go to "continue" and where you'll see a page of 8 save slots, press LEFT and the checkpoint menu shows up.

Emulating a classic controller is fine. I tried it last year with the japanese release and it was working fine, full classic gamepad support.
If I remember correctly you need to turn on wiimote emulation but select the Classic Controller as an extension and configure buttons for that.

I like what I've seen of the game so far, though it doesn't run perfectly on Dolphin 3.0-421 (even on my 4.5Ghz i5 rig Sad) -- you have to run in JITIL mode otherwise it freezes randomly and also you have to run with EFB>RAM enabled too otherwise clothing and character models often don't show. Both of those options cause performance hits, meaning a lot of the time combat ends up around 20-25fps.

you have a 4.5ghz i5 now? Didn't you have a much less powerful system when you played xenoblade? I think I remember your specs being similar to mine but it running ok for you.
Did you upgrade just for dolphin? :P

oh well, there's no way my Q9300 @ 3ghz is going to be able to run this game it seems so no change of plans. I thought that it could run better than xenoblade and maybe it's worth trying.. but I guess not.
