Now I finally know why people hated "Arrival" so much. The DLC itself was great, tons of action and a fantastic interim bridge between ME2 and ME3 ... but the plot? Oh fuck that. What the Alliance has done to Shepard is seriously fucked up! She was sent out there to bring back a friend, only to be taken hostage by the indoctrinated staff who were originally sent by the Alliance to blow up the damned system by destroying the mass relay ... so what happens? They fail, Shepard carries out their task and THEN takes the blame for it!
Bullshit. Utter bullshit. Typically shitty writing from BioWere-of-late.

Hi Shepard, thanks for rescuing me, yeah, the only way to destroy a mass relay is by crashing an asteroid in it. What that you say ? That timer ? Oh it's the countdown until the reapers arrive. By the way, I'm the villain, actually, I'm controlled by a reaper ! I don't know why I'm telling you all this crucial information before betraying you, I could've just, sent you on your way after you brought me back here ! I mean, that was your mission right ? Everything would've gone according to plan then !
But you know me, it would just not be fair of me, 'cause my name is Bioware ! and I can't write for shit.
By the way, did you know there was an alpha relay on the edge of the galaxy ? It can actually warp us everywhere we want ! We could've sneaked in the galaxy there and killed you all no prob instead of revealing us through Sovereign! But nope, we couldn't fly through space TWO whole years to reach it. nope !
And you know what Shepard ? You could've killed us all ! One decisive blow, if you would've set the asteroid course to hit the mass relay just as the reapers arrived ! You could've blown us all to bits alongside the entire system !
But no, for that would make too much sense. I mean this game is made for derps, we didn't expect you to think.

Remember what Matriarch Benezia said? She thought she was in control, and for a time she was. Until she wasn't. Indoctrination is not direct mind control from the start, it's more subtle.
Why did they drug Shepard instead of just killing him? Well, maybe Harbringer wanted him to be the first to witness their arrival. Just to show him how insignificant he and is accomplishments were.
Of course it's probably just bad, CODesque writing.

True, but the difference is that with Kenson it's not subtle at all, it's dumb, it just... happenned. With Benezia. even though she thought she had controll, she was still working for Saren and for the return of the Reapers *willingly* at first (maybe), her free-will was slowly stripped away from her and little by little, her thoughts became the whispers of Sovereign.
Kenson is like "dum di dum, yep, we're totally gonna blow up that relay, and we'll stop these reapers, that's what we've been working for here ! By the way, follow me into that room chap"
"Holy crap, wtf is this reaper artifact doing here"
"BLU BLUARGGGHH I CAN'T LET YOU DESTROY THE RELAY SHEPARD !" (since when was this my job you dumb bitch ?)
all that in the span of two minutes.
And then she starts running around saying the reapers are saviors and shit.
Also she was possessed by Harbringer right after Shepard fell... I don't know but I think she'd have to be pretty damn indoctrinated already to be possessed. Unless indoctrination in ME is like an ON/OFF switch in your brain, and hers just activated as she entered the room.
