No no, read my post that I linked to, texture archive is ~500 MB and the character textures are around ~470 MB, they're separated but the textures are still probably quite bad judging by Mass Effect 2 and it's visuals and how these files are near identical in size.
(And there's a slightly larger file for lightning but I don't quite know what it does.)

Mmm thanks Jonas. I really can't understand why games don't ship with higher res textures. I realise the console platforms cannot use them, but surely the texture artist starts with very high res textures before they get downsized, would it kill them to just add them? Only a few extra gigs required for PC users only.

My full name is Jonas (Bunch of other names here.) Bäckman. Smile
(I think I mentioned that some time ago but I've been here since 2006 so I don't fully remember, don't think I did a normal introduction or such.)

EDIT: Anyway what else is there to mention about the actual game, can't think of anything at the moment so I guess I have nothing to add.
(Having fun with the ini files but took a break as a few MB does amount to a lot of text to sift trough, can't do anything about the activation either of course, so there's not much happening here until tomorrow it seems.)

EDIT: Found this video from yesterday about that in-game reporter that's making a return for the third time.

Out of context quoting ftl.

"It is not, by the second definition - random numbers aren't published. I consider the second, mechanistic definition far more useful, but I don't like that it doesn't work for the Mass Effect games, because socially and historically, I feel like it should be a role-playing game. Its design studio, BioWare, is famous for being an RPG house. Its morality and conversation system are the type that only really occur in RPGs. Its epic story, party member recruitment and interaction, and semi-linear narrative are all hallmarks of this genre more than any other. So, why not call it an RPG? Shouldn't the definition be stretched, if it doesn't fit a game with the historical context of role-playing-ness?"

My emphases.

What gets me is that it's being released in a matter of days, and there's no reviews of it yet. I mean, sure, most will be bought off, but for the love of God, how many people are going to get burned by this if it's as bad as it looks?

do you really expect anyone coming up with a objective review before release ? They only send their discs out to favorable reviewers lol.

the only reviews that are worth mentioning, are the once available after official release + the hump.

I used to take metacritics user reviews serious. But since a few years it seems these big publishers have a separate propaganda department, specialized in making up favorable "user" reviews.

She does look a bit like that, yet way better than this bimbo from Cheese Effect 3.

That's a common thing these days. I've read articles about such tactics in three, rather small, gaming mags by editors. Magazines which are thought to judge the game badly get the games very late intentionally with some bullshit excuse. It's no surprise that mags with "OMFG AWESOME EXCLUSIVE REVIEWS!!" rate games very high.

I wish i could agree with you ( I see it myself has a tps), but if i had to analyse it synthetically i'd have to say it's an rpg, a lite casual mainstreamed one.

Hehe I kinda raged Very Happy. What I didn't like was that the guy is trying to focus on all the "marginal" aspects and mere definitions without even mentioning the fulcrum of the problem, which is the gameplay.

Having a story with cinematic visuals, playing a role or the fact that Bioware used to make RPG games in the past shouldn't be the deciding factors for the assignment to a genre, since he seems to forget about what the ME series has become, a third person shooter with cover system and extra-light rpg elements Smile
