i dont see how that is a bad thing.
BF3 is the only FPS, that could dethrone COD franchise at this time. The more chunks of players they get away from COD, the better. Otherwise cod will go on forever and ever and every fps made will be in cod's image (and all of them fail) and eventually only cod remains.
BF3 is already different enough from cod (a lot), so i think a couple PROPER tdm/qdm wont hurt.
And yeah, there currently aren't any proper, let alone dedicated, tdm/qdm maps.

That's a good way of thinking  , but from my point of view if you remove vehicles and large maps it's no longer Battlefield 
I play tdm too these days, mostly when I need to unlock some stuff, but I can't deny that it's absolutely an "out of the place" experience (not to mention the broken respawn system), which has nothing to do with all the game mechanics that have made the franchise so popular and different from arena shooters and countless of cod clones  |

I agree with ixi. I've been dabbling a bit in TDM and even some squad dm only because I have a friend who retains that those modes are the best in BF (Smoking crack)
Whilst they are great to go rambo style and get unlocks for weapons, they are basically just twitch based lone gunman sessions similar to the COD experience.
I enjoy them, but only coz I can come out top 5 during a match, otherwise I'd be bitching about them even more.
I'm a bit lost as to DICE direction with battlefield. They seem to have autofucked themselves (thats a nice word) by just disregarding what players actually want (i.e. tweaks) before asking more money from them :S

Despite my previous rant I'm 100% sure that I'll end up buying it at release, probably just like the other two DLC that will follow.
I'm a HUGE TDM whore, as many here probably know and this game (especially at TDM) is ideal for a quick 15-20 min "break" while I desperately try to study.
And besides apart from Risen 2, there's really nothing else until june where I plan to spend money on (unless some wild Skyrim expansion appears or another DX:HR DLC pops up) so...

I like TDM too but I despise having to pay for fy_iceworld.
8 out of 10 dentists prefer zipfero to competing brands(fraich3 and Mutantius)!

On one hand, you've got a point. We definitely don't need more CoD oriented shooters. The more pull BF3 can get, the better. Of course, get too much pull and the streamlining starts.
On the other hand, I view CoD as kind of like a safety sponge - its role, in my humble opinion, is to keep all the kiddies and button mashing morons AWAY from my Battlefield. It's not perfect, there's plenty of idiots to be had in BF3, but the situation would be a whole heck of a lot worse if many of the CoD players migrated over.

And as far as that CQB map pack goes....DICE, why don't you play hide and go fuck yourself? Still waiting for REAL 64 man maps with redone borders and altered flag layouts - not copy and paste jobs.
