| Code: | My last announcement....
by Blitz at Sun Mar 11, 2012 7:56 am ...will be a pleasant little followup message to the events of recent. Since the 'letters' came in the other day, we've (everybody outside of NT and Jerbob) been trying to figure out if it's real or fake. There is evidence on both sides, but at this point, I'm fairly convinced it's real. If it's a joke, I quit effective Monday - really, I'm done dealing with this shit. Who wants to constantly be treated like a captive anyway?
However, you should also know that our great domain protector (Jerbob92), who was supposed to be making sure everything was legal by dutch law in the first place (which is why he's liable and scared shitless apparently), is now apparently difficult to contact by any of us, including NTAuthority. The only data I have is that one of our other staff received some text messages from Jerbob saying that "you'll know it's real once the domains are in posession of Activision." He is doing this entire process behind closed doors and without giving us any details. It is unknown if he is trying to work out a deal to preserve his own record or if something else is going on. In any case, I had a great experience moderating this community - and at last, you know where the blame lies for dropping the ball. |

by NTAuthority at Fri Mar 09, 2012 1:25 pm alterIW has received a Cease and desist notification from Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP, on behalf of Activision Publishing Inc, the legitimacy of which is under investigation.
Stay tuned for more details.

I'd also like to add that #alterIWNet-appeals and #alterIWNet-Support are temporarily closed until this issue becomes resolved. Please refrain from posting topics about how you cannot join the channel. |
I just visited their site and I noticed this two announcements, so it's very likely at this point that their project is closing down at some point in the near future.
The way I see it this has nothing to do with protecting the illusory concept of "Intellectual Property" but rather of eliminating competition to what is unquestionably a far better *product* than the ones released by Activision year after year.

Teknogods safe as houses They dont do piracy. The loader is not a piracy tool so for the most part 2.6.3 loader will be fine and still used for most of us that pirate the game.
Do not expect the next release to let you if you wish to use all the changes though be it friends lists and rank matched stuff is being worked on.. its having checks in place to make sure you are using the legit install of the game... 2.7 will be the next release number.

by MaxDamage at Sun Mar 11, 2012 7:43 pm Hello dearest Community,
As you've definitely heard, alterIWNet received a Cease and Desist notification from Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP on behalf of Activision Publishing Inc, demanding that we stop our operations due to infringing US and International laws.
At this time, only initial negotiations have been made, but it is certain that alterIWNet will cease all operations by the end of next week, indefinitely. During that time, you can still play the supported games, as usual.
Please refrain from taking any actions on our behalf, such as harassing letters, posts, "denial of service" attacks, telling your grandmother or anything else that you may deem wise. There is nothing more we can do here, unless Activision recognise us as a legitimate modding community.
Additionally, do not trust rumors. Everything official will be posted in this announcement. Anything you've heard that contradicts this announcement or is not mentioned here is likely false.
Thank you all for your continued dedication and contributions to alterIWNet and to PC gaming as a whole.
Sincerely,
Max
alterIWNet Administrator |
This is ridiculous!
