The "galactic thing" is basically an in game score which affects the ending you get. Bioware, in their infinite wisdom, decided that it's impossible to get certain endings (some consider them to be the "best" endings) unless you have a high enough score (above 4000 Effective Military Strength) which is only conventionally obtainable if you play mulitplayer.
I got over 5000 without touching multiplayer with a new Shepard (not imported).

Squad member outfits are unlocked via the coalesced stuff on one of the previous pages, the same one that unlocks the weapons and N7 Warfare gear -- there's currently no unlock for the robot dog.
Squad member outfits are unlocked by the reloaded crack.

I have no idea how you managed that.
I completed the game with an imported ME1 > ME2 save (which apparently gives you more EMS) and I followed the "best routes" in both games, saved everyone in the suicide mission etc and did everything I feasibly could in ME3 and still only ended up with an EMS of 3573.
Over 5000 EMS without Coalesced editing or multiplayer? It's not possible.
Fuck i don't have one single save before the Earth: London mission. Anyway i could have sworn i had just a little above 5000. Did all the quests and sidequest and found all the stupid relics and things on planets and took them to the people on the Citadel (used a list). Is there any way to check other than the War Room on the normandy?

Maybe i saw wrong? What did you guys get?
3495 was my max, i didn't do 3 side quests on my insanity playthrough.
1. Near the citidal embasies someone looked for his son
2. Thane
3. Conrad verner
I am sure i can get it up a little by doing those 3, but there is no way someone can go up above 3550 without editing their files.
PS: Finished the game twice, and duo the mp required shit i wont even bother to play with a adept/vanguard or anything else. This game is shit when you dont mod it.
Someone should create a unlocker to patch \Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 3\Mass Effect 3\Save\Local_Profile.sav
That file stores info about dlc's and readiness

@xxax You're probably confusing the EMS with TMS (Total Military Strenght - that's how it was named I think). The EMS is only half of the TMS because the galactic readiness is at 50% at all times, unless you modify a file or play multiplayer.
NZXTS340ELITE : EVGA Z370 FTW / [ Intel i7 8086k @4.0Ghz ][ ASUS TUF RTX 3060 Ti 8GB ][ 16GB G.Skill Trident Z @3200mhz CL16 ][ 128GB Intel760p Series + 1TB Crucial MX500 + 3TB WD RED ][ Thermaltake Toughpower PF1 650W ]
You can get around 7000 or so (Max was apparently something around 7600) but with the effectiveness being halved due to their galaxy readiness system it's not enough to reach the 4000 - 5000 required for the better endings.
(Depends on what ending you choose, 5000 is only required to see a small extra scene.)

EDIT: Was answered.
They said ng+ would unlock it, well i can confirm it's totally bs because i finished my ng+ today and didn't see shit.
2. Copy it to My Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 3\Saves (this will overwrite in-game settings)
3. Disconnect from the internet (this isnt a suggestion, this is required or it wont work)
4. Play
With this method you won't need to restart your game, you just need to remap some keys if you've changed them from default.

Honestly mate, it's worthless anyhow. A lot of us kicked up a stink about the "best ending" being unlocked after 4000 EMS -- but in the end it was every bit as worthless as the rest. Still, for completeness sake I recommend giving the finger to BW's forced MP and simply editing the shit out of coalesced.ini ^_^
Bioware done a great job. Great nihilistic end! I like it. Bunch of bitches whining abou the end , nut let me tell you something , I am 35 y old gamer playing games since C64 , have a lots of games on my belt , and I tell you one thing ME franschise end IN BEST POSSIBLE WAY!! Not fucking cliche.

Well maybe not the end (i don't know what it is nor do i care), but the dialog before i got bored and stopped playing, was reeking with clichés.

You do know that we can see all the possible ways to get war assets with the coalesced editor right?
The maximum right now its 7094 (with IMPORTED SAVE), but if you cut that to 50% you will get only 3547.

I've played a lot of shitty games and I have played a lot of awesome games, but I don't remember ever playing a game which fluctuates this much between and . Some scenes are so fucking awkward, it can't be anything but trolling.
Interesting view point on how endings should look like. SPOILERS.
Spoiler:
Distroing Mass Relay will probably not end space travel.
In Arrival i don't know but was there a sentence that reaching that system will take a month's
(after destroying Mass Relay) i don't know ME lore that good. Normandy is capable of space travel with speed faster then light to another star systems.
Original ending is not written to well. I have no problem with Shepard Dieing. I think Shepard should die heroic way. Those endings are like from Final Fantasy games. It's like ending fallout 1 or 2 vs ending fallout 3... only MUCH WORST. It's like 10 year old made this ending.
