I live near a railroad crossing. A high school stands on both sides of that crossing. Not to mention the train operator and people in the train.

If you want to kill yourself, I don't care, but ffs don't do it when dozens of people can see you get splattered. Luckily for me I didnt see him jump, just seen him lying next to the track afterwards (from a distance). A housemate of mine wasn't so lucky.

Annoying thing is, he survived. Hope he's in pain for what he did to those people, but I'm fairly sure that's the case.

Rant over..

+1. Extremely unselfish way to end your life and the choice to do it in that manner is usually a symptom as well

I wouldn't exactly go as far as saying "attention whores" -- if that were the case, the person would have just cut themselves or done something equally less-fatal, generally speaking if you jump in front of a moving fucking train -- it's going to kill you. Hardly a whore for attention that you'll never know about, are you? Wink I do, however, agree that diving in front of a train is a nasty way of taking your life. It's incredibly selfish, not giving a single thought to the other people your suicide would affect; like the train driver and any bystanders.

I agree leaving a mess behind when you commit suicide is not very nice.
But unfortunately it still is not really possible or at least very hard to have the help of a professional that is able to let you die in a humane way if you are not about to die from diseases already.
Granted depression is a disease but as far as I know not a valid reason to convince your doctor to euthanize you.
All in all every suicide is a tragic event for all involved.

Yep kill yourself if you want but don't make others suffer for, perhaps the rest of thier lives. Do it at home on your own.

I doubt a person thinks about the mess when he's ready to kill himself. He probably doesn't give a shit anymore at that stage.

I'd say that kind of suicide is irrational and maybe not selfish, maybe it leaves the person incapable of thinking about such things as other peoples trauma ect. It's not like a person wanting to end suffering from an illness and taking thier life through a drug overdose say.
Not saying it was, but mental illness should not be underestimated in it's power of fucking ones mind over and doing irrational things to a person.

But then Garus destroys my theory Laughing

someone tried to kill himself, try not to be selfish in that moment to think about yourself, imagine what he went through to get him that far.

Hope there is a special sinister place in hell for people that jumps at trains.

Old laws in Britain said that the punishment for trying to commit suicide was death. Suiting...

There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

I think ones driving a car and ramming it at coming traffic in attempt to kill him/herself is much worse. I think there's been 2 cases in Finland within last 2-3 years.

I recall few of the passengers in the other cars died in the crashes too.

Christ.. Endangering other people's lives is even worse of course. Idiots. If you're already in a car.. just block the exhaust and die due to CO poisoning or something. Clean, and you bother no one.. Well, maybe the people that find you, but they will probably first think you're asleep instead of 'oh my god where are his legs!?'.

Seems like the majority of these posts are more selfish then the people trying to take their own lives, considering you guys are suppose to be the sane ones.

I honestly wasn't trying to give the impression of selfishness, I was just saying that if you're going to commit suicide.. don't ruin other people's lives by doing it in front of them. I have no problems with suicide whatsoever and I certainly don't think it's a cowardly way out - I just don't think throwing yourself in front of a train is fair on those who have done nothing to you.

Well, unless the reason you're killing yourself is because of a childhood of abuse and bullying from certain people, one of whom grew up to become a train driver.. and you throw yourself in front of his train. Very Happy

Must also think they might perhaps be afraid of commiting suicide in certain ways, and by that reason go for something that seems like a sure thing and is also quick and painless. Who wants to feel themselves slip away by doing it in ways suggested here? must be fucking horrible, atleast if you get regrets and is helpless to do anything about it.
