In the past I have often had mates over - and linked pcs to play counterstrike,BF 1942 etc. I have an ADSL Modem -and I’d share it, and just set the other machines to "Auto ip". On the occasions when, for some reason, that wouldn’t work – I’d assign each machine with an ip – 192-168-0.1, 192-168.0.2 etc. When I tried this recently – while they all saw each other - the slave machines couldn’t browse the internet. Then I set the default gateway to the host machine – 192-168.0.1. After I did this – when you went into network connections – My ADSL modem would be displayed as an internet gateway…however the slave machine still wouldn’t browse/connect to the internet. I then set the DHCP –to 192.168.0.1 – and all machines can now connect to the net -----however – and finally here is my main problem and the reason I write – the slave machines are unable to connect to steam/Gamespy or see servers when trying to play BF2. Does anyone have any suggestions? Sorry this is so badly presented – but I’m technically illiterate. Cheers Speed

i thought i'd turned them off - but with that bloody sp2 it's hard to know.

Each machine has a firewall - plus there is the modem firewall - and norton 2005 blocks as well.

i'll turn all off and try again.

i'm sure this is an sp2 issue - i hate it tell ya.
