well at any rate you're talking like you haven't, i know for a fact i spent at least a good 4-6 hours on some of the single stages later in the original.
hell even band land was a pain in the ass.

I think the most annoying ones for me where the caves (?) ones (where the boss was the big crab). Ugh, and that fat boss at the pencils level was very annoying.
But they weren't that annoying.

yeah i know, band land was sorta tame just... for the most part rayman had no real capacity to move quickly up until that area and then suddenly every fucking thing you can stand on bounces you off like a rocket.
and yeah the art supplies level was one of my least favorite too, that stage early on riding the mosquito took me no less than 2 hours all by itself i know that for a fact, nearly broke a controller raging at that one.
shit, while we're at it how many areas did you even manage to complete? it's mandatory to 100% them all to even fight the last boss so i didn't really consider levels beaten until it was a step towards the end boss fight with mr dark, i think i managed to get to around area 3 like that, i never did beat the game though, managed to get to every area in the game at least though and at least do a half assed complete on all the stages except for mr dark's hideout.

I completed all, including Dark.
That is what took most of the time, finding the cages. I ran through the game first, then read on the internet that I need all cages, so went and collected. The cake levels (Dark's area) were nothing special to be honest. One level has Dark create a bad Rayman that does exactly what you do, so the trick is not to run and try to be faster than him, because you can't, but do it slowly and carefully and jump a lot so you can go under him when needed. The final "Dark" boss is just a mishmash of all previous bosses.
The ones where the level was moving (climbing water, etc) are the hardest to collect cages in, because you need remember where to run fast and hit them before dying.

that might explain it, i tried to get all the cages the first time through the stage instead of just opening the stages and coming back later, still though..... even 10 hours, not sure it's possible in that short of time.

Absolutely . Haven't tried the co-op but the single player was just fantastic.

Dunno man, I don't like these kind of platform. I always prefered Mario-like platforms over Sonic-like (rayman is sonic-like, going fast).
