It is overhyped but still, most fun shooting-reaction to hits on enemies in 2011 fps. Graphcis are very nice but static and textures were terrible in *some* spots, but firefights were awesome

There was never going to be a "HD" texture pack anyway.

There was the possibility of releasing a single DLC (tech-demo-ish?) level with better textures, but considering they haven't even released paid DLC, Bethesda is not terribly interested in supporting the title.

The SDK and 64 bit exe is still coming though.

Shooting mechanics in Rage were actually great and satisfying. All the rest was garbage.

Not only. They totally screwed up the whole "exploration-open world".
Besides cool shooting mechanics I've found characters(looks and animatons) very amusing.

No idea what he actually talks about or what it means but it might be for some of the April "surprises" planned, or how it was.

Finally implemented bypassing updated view (when not in cinematic, etc) directly to render back end to eliminate a frame of game latency.

No. Triple buffering adds latency and jitter; it should be avoided. The Answer is non-isochronous display updates.

Or it's for future titles like Doom 4 maybe. Very Happy

So, I'm thinking of giving it another go. Did they fix those GFX problems for ATI users?

^ What he asked
Can't be arsed to read trough all these threads, so....

Has this game been improved properly to actually try it?
Tried the first release and the gfx glitches kinda ruined the experience for me.

Weren't all of those fixes for ATI users incorporated into normal drivers?

Nonetheless, if I recall correctly there was some memory leak problem on 32-bit systems, that hasn't been solved.

Afaik most of the Ati problems were fixed by the combo official update + new drivers

Though I'm not 100% sure about that because the game literally killed my 4870 before I could try them Laughing

Speaking of which, the latest ATI drivers suck donkey bollox. They keep my card boiling around 82°C idle. I'm currently using 12.2 and I'm not updating them until they properly fix this crap. Mad

The 4000 series and below are all discontinued next month so there's not much you can do, Crossfire fixes might apply to older hardware but those too focus on newer architecture primarily.
(They might also keep a legacy driver of sorts around for older generation GPU's but we'll see.)

EDIT: And the issue in particular from what I know is that idle speeds are running at the full 3D clocks which is being looked into but other problems are prioritized.
(This particular bug affects most of the current Crossfire configurations and architecture though 12.4 fixed a number of them but mainly in relation to Eyefinity.)

Yea, Sad I can't afford a new card for now but I'm still happy with my 'old' card. Wink

It's a good solid GPU but the 4870 no longer scales very well since drivers are focused on the newer models so it's lagging behind more and more, that and overall average Crossfire support and coverage for AMD/ATI hampers things a bit.
(It likely seems worse than it is but most issues I come across deal with Crossfire and Eyefinity and in many cases both of them together, of course single GPU solutions are also affected by various issues and optimization problems but not to the same degree.)

And now they're focusing heavily on the 7000 series in particular this latest official driver boosting MLAA to 2.0 and improving SSAA along with texture quality improvements via filtering adjustments.
(Plus various tweaks and performance improvements, I'm not using 12.4 though, currently testing the leaked April 18th 12.5 beta drivers and it's included CAP installer.)

Nvidia has a bit broader support in their drivers but aside from allowing the drivers to be installed I doubt much of the changes apply to older hardware though two three generations back is a good standard to try and have OK support for.
(Which is pretty much what both are doing, just that AMD is offing the entire pre-DX11 support GPU's albeit if they move to WDDM 1.2 via Windows 8 that's apparently needed to get full certification.)

We're discussing Rage though and I don't think it's very good at multi-GPU support but I could be wrong, it definitively works better with Nvidia hardware.
(But NVidia also has better OGL support, I'd like to see that fixed along with properly trimming CCC properly, that thing uses too much RAM and is too slow, should discard the base 2.0 Net build and go for 4.0 or hell 4.5 even once available out of beta and use that instead, would probably not match the custom Visual C Nvidia Control Panel but it would help.)

EDIT: I had a 4870 X2 for a year and a half or so but it died partially due to heat as a VRM failed since they're weak on that card or rather the 4000 series. (custom models are not quite as affected and I believe it's corrected for the 4890 GPU which is what I switched to - third party Vapor-X version - when it failed)

I have mine 3 years and thank God still no problems yet. There was a cooler from Accelero especially designed for Sapphire's 4870X2 which improves the performance a lot but shortly after they discontinued the production. Heck knows why? Confused

The wasteland gets a little dark without it, but I can live with that.

Besides, you can toggle it with a couple of keys so...
