Isn't the whole stats thing pretty pointless? All the servers I play on have all weapons unlocked anyway. Is it just an e-penis thing or is there any other benefits?

More or less E-Penis I guess. It makes it more fun to play to gain new ranks and stuff though, as well as working at unlocking weapons is cool.

Dont know if this was mention here but the game use 800mb of RAM when you have 1gig....thats fuckin sick

not if you have 1gb of fast ram and you optimise the ram first.
get a ram optimiser prog, run it then run bf2=stutter gone/reduced.

Helped me. I'm checking in the AC97 thingy, I got an AC97, not a realtek though.. I have to put sound on software to get decen framerate.. annoying.

Does anyone else have a "terraforming problem"? By this, I mean, when you are driving/flying fast, you see the terrain change elevation before your eyes? Kinda like the Simcity 4 terrain utility...pretty much exactly like that heh.

Got everything set to high, 100% view distance, 60+fps, but the mountain ranges and shite keep terraforming before my eyes. Somewhat distracting hehe.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Yeah I have seen problems like that. Figured it was just my settings being on medium. Haven't tried them on high to see if it still happens. Though it may just be another buggy part of the game Wink

is this only me or after a few mins (20-30 or even less) the game begins to stutter and chock???

it feels like when i first run the game.. it runs flawlessly..but after a few mins .. in the same scene..the same map..even with the same amount of players ,the game begins to stutters...and its almost unplayable.

its not lagging or something that is realated to Internet connection,i guess it has something to do with "texture trashing" (i've heared it on other forum..).

so does anyone also experience this problem??? (if so.. plz what is your graphic card?)

My System:
CPU : AMD "Barton" 2500+.
Memory : 768MB DDR PC2100.
GFX : Nvidia 6600GT DDR3 128MB , AGPx8
M\B: Gigabyte GA-7VT600P-RZ MotherBoard
Sound: AC97 Realteck 5.1 ALC655 - Audio.

yeah, exact same problem. runs fine for the first game or 2 then it gets choppy. it gets REALLY bad on the china oilfields and fushee maps. sometimes it freezes for like 30 secs and most of the models go black, text turns into blocks.

extra 1gb is on the way.

edit: video card is x800xl

Stuttering and choking?
Sounds like the SAME problems many encountered in BF:Vietnam.
Look @ the forums of BF:Vietnam, exactly the same problems occured in that (buggy) game, seems they didn't learn from their mistakes.
IMHO it's the punkbuster that's causing the problems (constantly updating and monitoring/showing messages), in BF:Vietnam that is.
Playing 5minutes without problems and then..bang...weird kind of lag, game is becoming unplayable.
Hoping for some patches? Maybe, but BF:Vietnam never got really patched to solve this problem....

actually im not...if bf2 doesnt work well..so im not lucky.
i dont have anything to do with bfv anymore..and im looking to trade the cdkey (And also the bf1942 cdkey) for CounterStrike : source or BF2 (who knows...).
bf2 works amazing at the begining!! amazing!!!!! but after a few mins (As i said before 10-15mins....even more sometimes) the game begins to chock and stutter... )))-:
i hope ati will release a new driver that fix this (if its a driver problem) or EA will release a patch to fix it asap! if u guys managed to fix this problem somehow...let us know.

i dunno why...but to me it feels like a terrible memory leak...or improper texture trashing (GFX driver card related)

already tried that...to no avail.
10x anyway.
the sound is software set to lowets. Voip is off...EAX is off.
also tried hardware sound....didnt helped.
it has something to do with the gfx drivers or a memory leak in the game imo.
weired issue...some ppls tried also lowering the textures to low and textures filter to low... and the problem was still there.
im runing 1024x768.. all set to highest except lightning and realtime lightning to medium, and AAx2.

I have never ever used AC97 (too crappy for my taste), but I use these drivers with my Audigy2, and I'm never going back to Creative's buggy shit.

Ranked servers unplayable I've tried two and on both everyone had major lag. Even when everyone had low pings. Didn't have any lag at all on unranked. Amazing how fucked up BF 2 is. What is supposed to be the "best" servers turns out to bet he worst. Smooth one EA.
