The group hopes that the massive play session will shoot Half-Life 2 up the Steam most-played list and let Valve know how many people are still waiting for Half-Life 2: Episode 3. Valve certainly know this already, and probably receive dozens of emails every day asking “WHERE AM HL3?” but the group hopes to deliver the message in a more appreciative way.
“Instead of focusing efforts in a negative and disrespectful way, we have decided to gain Valve’s attention by delivering a basic message: Your oldest and longest running fanbase would like better communication,” they say on the Steam group page.

Pffft, we all know that the second EP3/HL3 appears on Steam store, the steam servers will die in a nanosecond, and EP3/HL3 will be announced "the best selling game on Steam".

yes they owe it to their fans after giving us portal 1 and 2, l4d 1 and 2 and among other fantastic games. Yes, they owe it to their fans. i think that valve are the kind of company that thinks things over and wait for the right time to play their cards. in order HL3 to be the major success we all hope it would be it has to be perfect on every platform out there (and trust me, it will be on every platform). in other words, i think that half life 3 will be amongst the first games that are released on the next gen consoles. meanwhile there is not enough time to release EP3 as well, so i think it was converted to half life 3 long ago.
Goin to be interesting too see how HL3 turns out... Sure as hell wont play like HL2 did thats for sure, i guess we can expect some derpification(achievements and such) oh well tbh i dont really care anymore
