I already can imagine how great for example Black Crypt could look with enhanced gfx, perhaps someday i will see it
If you bring Amiga games to the table, I have to say I'd love a new game from the Amberstar/-moon series.
@Casus:
The transition from game to game and genre to genre is quite fluid. If you say that UU evolved the genre from games like DM and EotB, then you will arrive at exploration-heavy fps games like Doom or even Skyrim. That's why I am happy to see somebody going way back to resurrect what was before UU.
Ehm, no - I don't think I will arrive at Doom as an exploration heavy game
Skyrim is much more vast in scope and could never be called a dungeon crawler.
So, I don't agree with you at all.
I'm glad you're happy with going back to 1987. Personally, I'd love to see the genre evolve from where it stagnated.
The engine itself can obviously handle non-grid based levels. It certainly looks that way to me.
I wouldn't want grid-based movement in a UU game either
I'm pretty sure it's built from the ground and up to be an engine that handles corridors and grid system well, a terrible engine for anyting like UUW. Someone should do a UUW remake using the Creation Engine, a much better fit. UUW is very similar to Bethesda's games (mechanics / interactive world / objects / NPC's / Open world gameplay etc).
an earlier version of the engine can be seen here, not grid restricted.
A quick development cycle with strong visuals - so as to lure in all the hungry nostalgia-laden fans.
A quick development cycle? Do you have any idea how long they've actually been working on this game? lol (edit: as someone else already pointed out)
Well that was an abandoned project.
So what you might want to say is that they already had some know how, in how to do it.
They didn't took ten years to developed LoG.

Re: Can you confirm this was a previous iteration of Grimroc

Well, yes and no. Escape from Dragon Mountain was a hobby project of mine a long time ago. Grimrock was rewritten from scratch starting in spring 2011 and all assets (except for a couple of sound effects) have been made specifically for LoG. I never had a chance to complete EFDM because of lack of time and resources but the idea of making an old school dungeon crawler never died. Naturally there are many similarities in game design because they both are strongly inspired by DM and EOB. But clearly LoG is the brainchild of the entire AH team so it's unfair to say that Grimrock would be an iteration of EFDM.

Hoping to read first impressions asap :]
Daaaaaamn yooooooouuuuuu! Since I have to wait till tomorrow for Skullgirls and Persona 3 FES isn't even gonna get released on EU PSN afaik ;_;
By that it'll be released around 18.00 over here as Sweden goes as GMT +1 which is not too bad though it could be better.
the game will be released 18.00 GMT, the guy made a mistake, so 19.00 gmt +1
(this is what steam says, the post also mentions warsaw release as 19.00, also in gmt+1)
So it seems that Steam is blocking early release. Instead being released as usual one and half an hour ago on gog. They are waiting for steam servers. So 4 more hours.
Nah it can be downloaded, you just need to know the way the download link is constructed, been trying with one particular combination since a few days ago and it actually worked this time.
