Stuck on that one as well (if it's the one with the moving teleporters and the trap door in the middle) I thought maybe I'd have to drop down a level but I couldn't find an easy way back up so that was probably the wrong answer :/ |

I think so, all that shields do is increase evasion, am I right?

Does Avernum play anything like Avadon? (which I haven't finished but like a whole lot)

Avernum it's kind of a remake from the first avernum, so ya, it plays like avadon.
Regarding shields, sometimes it increases protection or increases evasion, check your character sheet when equiping it

teleporter puzzle on 3rd floor:
| Spoiler: | watch pattern of moving teleporters, go between them to 3 o'clock, throw a stone across pit to close it, stand on now closed pit in middle, wait for another opening, go back to 3 o'clock, put stone on pressure plate, back to middle, then through door |

Speaking of going down a level... It's worth it to jump in the pits, assuming you have enough health to not die.

played 3 levels down so far, seems decent enough, healing stones aren't quite as bad as i feared, decent in 3d vision without any adjustment as well, but there is a tiny bit of cursor doubling.
not sure i like the magic system.

just starting with this , how do i use the tar beads or any ingredient for that matter , also scrolls i can't seem to be capable of reading them even if i am of appropriate level ?

You read scrolls just by mouse-overing them. You don't actually need them, they're just there if you can't remember all the skills on your own.
You need a Pestle & Mortar before you can make potions.

Anyone managed to solve the "feed me" puzzle on fifth floor? The face doesn't seem to like any of the food I throw at it.
Also for those of you close to end of floor 4

Dudes. This is one of the few games where I wrap my head around the puzzles and go daaaamn!!!! DONT HELP PEOPLE WITH HE PUZZLES! THEY'RE SOLVEABLE!!! IT'S LIKE AN OLDSCHOOL GAME AND BEATING A PUZZLE FEELS SO DAMN REWARDING! Just like fighting them fucking spiders. Great game. 10/10 from me. So many secret levels and learning how to make potions... FUUUUUUU!  Love it.

| Spoiler: | You can throw through the gate, can be anything though doesn't have to be a weapon. After you put 1 item in and pushed the button do it again with 2 items at once for good measure  |
