HI

I was gonna purchase the new Nvidia 7800gtx, but i found out that my motherboard (ASUS P4C800-E) does not support PCI-Express ARGHHHHHHHH ...
anyways, so my only choice now is to buy the best AGP 8x card.
After quite some research, i think the best one to go for is a Nvidia 6800 Ultra! (BTW, is this the best AGP card out there???)

If i'm heading on the right direction, i would like to know which is the best company that makes the best 6800 Ultra Chipset? (eg. Leadtek? BFG? XFX? Gigabyte? etc?!)
Any help/recommendations would be GREATLY appreciated - money is not a factor.

Cheers!!

Can not make a personal recommendation but I hear really good things about the BFG. Whatever you get just make sure your PSU is up to spec and even more important what kind of cooling is built on the card.

Beautiful! so the X850xt is faster than 6800ultra? is that what y'all saying?

My current specs are:
P4 Prescott 3.2ghz
ASUS P4C800-E Motherboard (hence the AGP card i'm looking for; leaving the upgrading/building of a new PC for after 1-1.5 more yrs)
1g RAM
320g HD
Sapphire ATI 9600pro 256mb >>>>> needs replacing now!
Creative Audigy 2
22" Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070SB Monitor
etc.

The games i mostly play are FPS/Action:
BF2, CoD, MoHAA, CoD2 (When it comes out), HL2/CS:S, UT2004, GTA:SA, among others.

Ok, now that you know all this, y'all recommend the X850xt? And if so, what manufacturer should i get it from? eg Saphhire? or ASUS? etc?

Cheers ppl!

PS: Does anyone know any website where Benchmark tests have been done with X850xt, 6800Ultra on Battlefield 2?

FYI: If you think the X850 will fix you GFX lag issues in Battlefield 2 .. it wont. Lots of people are having issues with it (not all). If this is the sole reason for buy I would wait out for a patch in the comming week (I HOPE!)..

Doesn't Asus offer 3 years warranty than 1 year by others?

id hafta go with the 6800 myself. i know that the radeon line edges out ahead in the benchies and whatnot but two factors sway my decision in favor of nvidia: one, the 6800 has shader ver 3.0--not a big factor right now i know, but it will be soon, and after playing splinter cell chaos theory in all its sm 3.0 glory, i can firmly say there IS a difference. and halflife 2 will soon be using sm 3.0. two, the detonater or whatever nvidia calls their drivers thesedays just blows catalyst out of the water. ive used catalyst for so long and stuck with ati but come on, nvidia is so effortless and easy while ati feels like some kid wrote their drivers(especially the control centre) with how flaky they seem to be. and if you have a hdtv setup, the nvidia drivers are AWESOME with getting your display set up quickly and easy.

anyways like i said this is all just imo, but i really think nvidia won this round in the gfx battle. maybe ati will come out ahead this next time around and maybe ill switch back but hey, i just go with the card that makes me smile most, no matter the what company logo that pops up when i boot my puter.

Why not get a GeForce 7800GTX? Expensive, yes. But it is more powerful than the X850XT PE. I´m a ATi "fan", so i shouldnt be saying this Very Happy Razz but it is the truth.
