Well deinstalled just now, I am definitely not buying this. The game has completely gone out of touch with its predecessors.

RIP Diablo.

Impossiburu. At least if you want to have the same experience you'd basically need to get a hold of the server files... Don't wait for that to happen Laughing

Yeah, I ain't holding my breath for a halfway decent server any time soon. It took years to get WoW priv servers to their current state... and even those, as good as they are, would be considered laughable to anyone who plays officially.

Actually, i'm playing on a vanilla server that has excellent scripting and support. Also they have NO donation rewards so everyone is equal and needs to work for their gear.. unlike retail ^^

Derped how? The Diablo games never held all that much depth beyond loot grinding in the first place.. would probably play very well on consoles.

It's a bit too colourless for my tastes, but that DarkD3 *is* an awesome site isn't it? Hell, I think Blizzard should link to it themselves Very Happy

Pretty awesome!

Torchlight 2 needs one of those...

Here's mine. Not over the top, nothing that destroys the original image.. but rather enhancing it. In game it looks even better.

I use inject_FXAA (specifically, ixigia's customised Kingdoms of Amalur settings) on pretty much every game I play now. It's amazing just how much it enhances the visuals. In my eyes at least Very Happy

Not really considering it completely overrides their artistic choices.

Dark3d is a joke filter to darken and desaturate the game, whereas they've shown how extremely varied (both in colors and darkness) the game will be to evoke different feelings from the player.

So basically dark3d kills all that and gives you a monotonous dark crap.

If you use it for the sharpen filter then that's another story.

I personally like the artistic style, but some more effort into the character models and textures would be the least they could do. While I appreciate their "we want everyone to be able to play our games" attitude, I believe that a medium level PC is already powerful enough to handle much more than this.

Artistically yes, it's the best there is.

I guess you could say that, but then again ask yourself how much will you be looking at your character login screen?

Textures/models are made so they look right from that fixed isometric camera, not for a login screen.

I was wondering that too, much for the same reason you are. I understand wanting to make sure everybody can play.. but surely that's what scaling is for? What we have now could just as easily been Low or Medium settings, with higher offering greater model, geometry, texture and shadow details.

It's not like we can even hope for the community to bring some mods to the table Sad

What exactly is the general gripe by many people here about the game? Havent read the thread much. I think its great fun and definitely has Diablo vibes.

Besides ridiculous posts like "axe hits sound like shotguns, this game is teh suxxorez" etc, etc.

After finishing the beta with every class except WD (I've not gotten around to that one yet) my only gripe is the online-only nature. I have zero intention of "partying!111" or co-op/PvP or indeed any interaction of any kind, so being forced to play online grates a little -- especially with my cruddy net that randomly drops for a minute or so.

The gameplay itself has been great fun and far be it from me to encourage streamlining, but I certainly enjoy the way this one handles itself.

it tooks 5+ years of development to achieve that kind of flawless server.
and even so, a vanilla player will spot boss fighting differences miles away.

and even with full 3.5 (i think) server available and near perfection, cataclysm is still a nightmare to emulate.

i canot see a working (okish) diablo 3 server in the first 2 years at least.

I don't care whether a character looks good in the character sheet or the main menu, I was talking about ingame. I can still see that textures are rather low and basic, even though the art style might be good enough. Surely I can expect more from a company like Blizzard than from some indie dev making due with the money they got. I see no excuse to not add high quality textures in a game so acclaimed. Sure sure gameplay rules and gfx is irrelevant, but I personally want both from a company like Blizzard. With SC2 for example the textures were also not very high res and whatnot, but there was a lot of small detail when you zoomed in. I don't see that here and I can't see the reasoning behind it.

Can't agree with you more! There's no faster way to ruin your Diablo experience then by clicking that "Open Game to Public" button. I made that mistake once. Never again.

P.S. The textures look like they let a 7 year old loose with a crayon. I'd post some PoE screens, but why bother? Blizzard doesn't have fans, it has cultists. Very Happy

this is blizzards art style. None of their games was any different in that department ever. So i dont understand the gripe or suprise about it.

Blizzard always valued gameplay over high end HD graphics and gladly so.

I really don't understand why not...I get it they want the game to run on old hardware, but that's what the graphical options are for. The game could use better graphics even if the art style and general polish mask it a little.
