i love the genre and i'll surely give it a shot
but it looks way too simplified
modern warfare is complex - why does it look like drawn with crayons?
it was fine with silent hunter since it's supposed to simulate ww2 era pen and paper planning map
also wtf with the snow following the fighter planes? Very Happy
they should focus 90% on the 2d view and make it as robust as possible and then add 3d as visualization candy
an updated version of fleet command

looking more forward to..
Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations
man i get such a boner looking at those screenshots and videos

I swear there was a previous thread on this because I posted that I was in the beta.

It is a fun game. Think a lot of Harpoon meets Fleet Command. Good learning curve, but well rewarding.

If you played Fleet Command, this one has a lot more options.

Harpoon was a great game. I was so addicted. Didn't like the sequels and clones.
Just watched some beta gameplay on yt and liked it. Gonna try it for sure.

played yesterday... isn't so great.
the UI is horrible for a great game like this and the learning curve is veeeery high and the tutorial/manual covers only base concepts of the units, not advanced ones like stealth/ecm/special stuff.
very frustrating to getting a grasp on what you have to do while the enemy got 4 su-27 on low altitude getting a shot on your destroyer and AWACS at max altitude with active radar on and actually showing nothing. Laughing

I was afraid of that UI thing. How about time flow? Can you at least pause game during battles or things gets hectic, it says that game is a RTS .

It really plays no different than Fleet Command. That one wasn't easy to get into either. I played a few missions during the beta and while I did get my arse handed to me, I found that sending AWACS ahead of my main force and leaving the radar off until I wanted to search an area worked out the best. As soon as you turned it on, they were all over you like white on rice, but your surface ships are sitting ducks. I tend to leave them at the rear and use my Subs and aircraft to scout out the forward-most positions.

this isn't in any way comparable to fleet command
it's a toy
it feels like a 'complex' flash game with simplified controls
there's a demo on steam
personally i'll wait for command

Really? The map views are similar, graphics are similar; the only thing I noticed is that there are many more options in this game. On the downside, it plays harder than Fleet Command ever did. One thing I didn't care about with Fleet Command is on some missions, they dropped you right in the middle of an enemy force that you didn't always have to scout out. At least in the beta, I had to find my enemy so far.

i don't remember a pause button, but real-time speed is veeeery slow.
try the demo over steam to get the feeling of the game.
