Holy crap. Let me guess, you guys love your (imho over)saturation, don't you?
*EDIT2*
Well, at least it shows you how bad some of the textures are |
Haha, if there's too much sharpening for your tastes just open the FXAA_Tool.exe and set the "Post-sharpen" on 5-6 instead of 9

Hold right click, time a left click right as the enemy is about connect to you with his sword (parry) then imediately upon succeding to do that press space and follow it up more left clicks. You have to press space once very quickly after succeding with the parry. It's very effective when you can manage to pull it off consistently. |
Wait so..
Block, attack as the enemy attacks (that's parry? not just blocking?) then press Y and more attacks (X)?
Guess i wasn't parrying at all then?

I manage to get the crew off the ship, and the water on board. But fucking Benito stands near the three cannons and pretty much insta-kills me, regardless of if I sneak or not. How the frell do I get rid of him? Fighting him was useless since there are still patrolling guards with imba-muskets making me full of holes every time.

Stuck here also, any tips ?
Read it on their forums as well, feels like a bug.

I lured him inside the building he stands at, and put him down there, "fixed" cannons.win

If you were doing only that, you were just taking a defensive stance. It's a bit confusing since it's not properly explained, but 'blocking' is just a defensive stance and (semi) target-lock. You have to actively parry, that's why blocking doesn't do shit if you're just standing there in the defensive stance. I don't have the riposte skill yet, so I'm a bit confused why you're supposed to kick to riposte.
edit: what difficulty are you playing on? I've only played four hours or so and the combat hasn't been that hard untill now.
Has anyone invested points in that monkey skill and things like blacksmithing? Is it worth the points?

Just beat him up a couple of times and do the cannons while he's down. Watch out for his musket though, he was taking 90% of my health bar with one shot.

I'm like.. on the 3rd island and it's a real pain in the ass to fight 4 guys even with patty along. Are you supposed to invest in toughness and learn the skills to help you? I got 1 point in that, i went full out cunning/swords/guns.
Those fights usually end up in having to reload 20 times before we get lucky and kill one fast then save..kill another fast... or reload..
I get staggered and attacked from all directions all the time... or shot at
Not gonna go lower in diff but im curious if those talents helped you out. |
Did you rush from island to island? If you do almost everything, find every treasure, fight every foe, do every quest and such, you should be able to invest in every skills simultaneously and even.

The monkey has been useful like twice so far (almost done with sword coast) to get some extra loot from temples, other than that everything he can steal I could steal myself. Sure is cute though.

Well game's not hard, except for those 4 man packs... had like 4 of them by now (3rd island). Not sure what diff it's on, think it's medium(?) i left it default.
Then again i didn't get any upgrades at all in my actual equip except the epee and the guns...well i got a thief ring and such but still wearing my pirate outfit from the dlc i think.

Maybe after a couple of patches will end up being fun. So far, the combat is atrocious, the monster attacks can't be parried, the graphics are in a dire need of serious tweaking, the mouse speed is insane and iv'e got my first bugged quest.
The bugged quest is the one that ask you to deliver some meat to the cook. I never did the quest in a proper order, so it's now stuck on my logbook.
The Risen feel is there. The moral ambiguity, the fact that if you have spoken with certain persons will open new dialogue paths in other conversations. There is potential for a good game buried deep.
And let's not forget the minigames. I hate those, with a passion. As i do hate the QTE.

Oh my god, the gnome you meet later on is amazing! The way he speaks is hilarious with all the unnecessary swearing. They really did a great job with quite a few memorable lines so far.

Not being able to parry animals is intended, dude. Use your WASD-keys and jumping to dodge attacks instead combined with kicking and countering.
Some beasts are retarded tho, particularly Ghouls and firebirds can get into an attack-stun spree that is inavoidable.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.
