I tried playing the clone once, didnt have the patience to figure out how to play, and haven't had the desire to play again.
I guess I know why it's an underrated game now

well, check it out for yourself if you are into simulations. Seems good to me. Although i dont really like that type of game, but if i d install it i d play it, i guess... |

If you like "german style" trade simulations like patrizier or fugger you might like this one, but as a pirate game, this is really dull imo.

Port Royal 2 was never suppose to be about battles etc..
Its 90% about trading...
There was another game.. built on the same engine.. that was more about actual ship combat etc... cant remember what it is now ....

Is this all bucking and swashing or is it in any way similar to the Anno games? Pretty desparate for something like Anno 1404 having played that to death.

nothing like anno. This is more based around trading , economy and later naval warfare.
Think pirates! minus the cheesy story ^^

seems like the skidrow crack (or game itself) is a bit faulty, getting some ctd's just sailing around, with game freezes when loading into towns.
