Hmm... while I really liked shooting in SS2, its atmosphere and environment were so much "unserious", compared to other games in franchise, that it would have been more proper if game was named "Serious Sam: Drunken Adventures" or "Serious Sam: I was so stoned".

I really enjoyed it. One thing that seemed odd to me was the melee system. Why are we allowed to activate a melee attack when we're 10 feet away from an enemy?
I know its in our control so we can simply choose not to abuse it. I'm just curious why they made it that way in the first place.

@ JBeckam
could you please upload a pack with the latest patch? My version is the one floating around and marked 3.0.3.0 which is over one month old. Thanks a lot!

Sure SS2 had its own share of problems but for me it was the best and most fun SS game. I particularly loved the parrot bombs (the parrots going la-la-la before exploding always cracked me up ) I wish we could get a new SS in that vein.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Apparently most people hated it because it was different. I loved it because it was different, but still a 100% Serious Sam game. I really didn't see anything wrong with it and I didn't even know it got so much negativity until I started hanging out on forums.

I liked SS2 the first time I played it but didn't like First Encounter at all on release
Recently I played both HD Encounters and had a great time, immediately put on SS2 and was horrified at the difference
The only things that made it a SS game were Sam himself, some of the enemies and a few weapons, it's a different type of game and was missing the challenge of the originals
I think for a lot of people it was similar to the difference between the original Splinter Cells and SC : Conviction, they changed the entire style of the game to try and appeal to a wider audience, but stepped too far away from the orginal idea, for some
Funny thing is I probably enjoyed SS2 more than SS3, they tried to recapture the originals but didn't quite hit the mark, I'd have preferred a Third Encounter to what we ended up with

The above was fake it seems but it's now confirmed we'll see new content for both SS:HD and SS3 with the first news being for the HD games and coming this week though new content for this game is also in the works.

As we informed you a couple of days ago, Croteam and Devolver would announce this week their DLC plans for Serious Sam HD. And we are happy to inform you today that the first DLC pack for Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter will be called Legend of the Beast. Legend of the Beast DLC will hit the Internet on May 15th in which Sam will track down the mysterious ram-god of The Great Obelisk in an all-new chapter of the legendary series.
Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter – Legend of the Beast DLC will cost a paltry US$4.99 and will feature three New Campaign Missions, three New Brutal Survival Mode Maps and three New Chaotic Versus Mode Maps.
In addition to the new content, Croteam and Devolver Digital will be making all Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter’s versus and survivor multiplayer modes free-to-play via Steam and available to download at no charge permanently starting May 15th. These free modes include Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Instant Kill, Last Man Standing, My Burden, Survival and Team Survival.

Really weird they are making content for TSE HD, instead of BFE.. but still awesome! Will buy for sure!

Wondering where you heard that since I finished the first 2 levels fine, and no scorpion (from what I see, it was harassing you in the first level).

It's out! Apparently the levels are based on layouts created more than a decade ago!
Quote: | Levels are based on layouts created more than 10 years ago. They were fitted with completely new fights, adjusted architecture and higher detail. Placing those levels between Metropolis and Alley of Sphinxes was decided earlier this year while we were finalizing this. |

split screen in this game is awesome. Each player can use his own mouse and keyboard, no more of this "one kbm, everyone else on gamepad" crap!
Also with eyefinity (or nvidia equivalent), "split screen" means each player can get his own monitor. I just played through a level in coop, where each of us had our own KBM and monitor, but it was all running on one machine (with one copy of the game). The only time it got weird was in a cutscene that got split up across two monitors (well, and the menus, again split up over two monitors) Of course, those problems would be avoided if I just skipped eyefinity and did actual splitscreen, and they didn't harm gameplay at all. I'll take a schizo cutscene if it means we each get to play on our own monitor
Pretty sweet, and about time someone did this.
