It's real time if I understood the IGN review however you have a special ability to slow down things (For a limited time only, also doesn't fully pause the ongoing event.) and give orders and set up tactics for your group as I understood it.

Ya,the combat is real time like JB said.
It's a bit like dragon age 1 combat. You can't pause the fight, but slow it down by pressing spacebar. During that time you can use special abilities, drink potions and control other team members.

I personally love the combat. Smile
I don't know how much dialogue choices affect the game, but you do make quite a few choices along the way.

It is a shame from my point of view that it does not have native multimonitor support...would benefit from it imo.

So far I can't see how this game can be considered bad...far from it. :/

Got the Steam version functional, wasn't too difficult.
( http://store.steampowered.com/app/208730/ so Steam://install/208730 and then re-connect with a US VPN and do a validation and it'll decrypt it.)

EDIT: Seems to be UE3

EDIT: Ahh no real config options, well it's UE3 so I can make my own, sort of. Razz

Also it seems kinda "unprotected" so I don't really know what's up with that.
(It's not using "that" protection at least, might use Steam but that seems pretty light too, no sign of CEG.)

EDIT: Since I prefer to go for quality there wasn't too much to adjust, mouse smoothing was removed however and some smaller tweaks.

Well the GG version had a simple one time activation...I'm sure steam should have this too. :/

@xExtreme

As for the game, there is no character customization as like in skyrim. You get 2 predefined characters and you set different skills, attributes, styles of combat and character traitsfor them.

You find loot throughout the game...helmets,armors,boots,weapons etc. But armors have different energy cost and deflection penalty traits that affect the combat.

One bad thing about the game though, loading times are long. :/

There's no serial or key of any sort, none of the files normally associated with this protection either (a matched .dll and a .x86 file similar to "protect" from star-force although often renamed to other things, egujahaq to use the example in Confrotation.) so I was a bit surprised, it also starts directly though might tie to Steam although there's no exe customization (CEG) either strangely enough.

Also I just started the game and after some (nice) lengthy cutscenes I'm now exploring the fort a bit, really like the game so far, lots of attention to detail even if the graphics might be a bit low-quality and there's quite a bit of dialogue as well, numerous RPG elements are also present and it runs at 100+ FPS at all times so it's quite optimized even if it uses many advanced features of UE3 albeit with lower model and texture detail. Very Happy

calm down, there's one review from IGN (most of which is complaints about gfx, what a surprise) so far and that's it.
i saw plenty personal mini reviews saying this game isn't terrible at all, in fact gameplay is decent and story is great.

Heh I can already see this being the same as Risen 2 for me, regarding the difference between reviews all around and my enjoyment of the game.

Mmmm... Sounds better than the IGN review made out, but still not something I'd spend £20-£30 on. I think I'll definitely pick it up in a sale though. Very Happy

From just trying it a little, I will say that this game are more of a RPG and is way better then for example Dragon Age 2. Eventhough it has bugs and quite ugly graphics (at times), it has a great story and the fighting mechanics are great too. I do not think it deserves as low as 4.0, it's not a 10. But I think it surpasses DA2 by a lot...this is from how I experienced the two games from just a quick try in the beginning.

My initial impressions in every category:

Graphics: Some low-res textures here and there, mediocre at best but the detail is rich.Fans of Martin will surely love the world that Cyanide managed to create here.
Sound and Dialogue: Plenty of dialogue options/decisions which affect instantly the game flow.Voices are quite "questionable" sometimes but in overall voiceovers are decent.
Gameplay: This is where the game shines imo.Combat is addictive, there is plenty of loot and RPG elements are great.
Overall: A good game for rpg gamers.A very good/great game for Game Of Thrones fans.

Yeah forgot that, I think that you'll enjoy the game much more if you're a Game of Thrones fan. But over all I think we had way worse rpgs the last years and they recived higher scores.

The wrose thing about the game is not even the horrible graphics, the cloning of npc´s or the shitty combat... it´s the absolutely mind numbing dialogue, the game seems like it was written by 10 year old with a hard-on for GRRM.

I just can´t enjoy a poorly written rpg, story is everything and in that regard this game is unplayable for those that enjoyed the books and tv show.

Combat is not shitty and story is well written and told in this one.How is combat shitty? It's like KOTOR combat with some new ideas. You're right about the npc's being the same over and over but this game is far from a 4.0/10 is given by some reviewers.

I find the story horrible, the dialogue... how can you find that enjoyable? it´s cringe worthy, the only way you would think this belongs in the same Ice and Fire universe is if you haven´t read the books.

The combat turned me off as soon as i noticed that it bogged down to using the same few skills to kill every mob, and the repeating of the same kill animation with no variation within the same weapon class. It has no depth, no "meat" to it, unlike KotOR which allowed much more strategy and skill use (from what i remember, might be wishful thinking tho... need to replay it at some point).

There's definatly better dialogues out there in other games, that I admit. But as for as the story, even the people/magazines that doesn't like the game overall have said that the story is the strong point of the game.

As for as combat, while there are things they could improve. It is much better then most of the RPGs during the last years. I think Dragon Age 2 for example had much worse and boring combat then this game. KoToR I admit being better though, but it came out when Bioware still made quality games....

Couldn't they have copied dialogues from the books? Why would they need to write some shitty dialogues by themselves?

The story doesn't follow the books, it's totally new characters and adventures set inside the events of the books.

The dialogues were written with the collaboration of Martin afaik.

Actually, and from what insiders have posted on neogaf, they spoke with Martin a total of... 2 times.

He didn't actually collaborate in any way with the game development apart from assuring that the game´s story didn't contradict his own.

Apparently the development of this game was all kinds of fucked up. Check the thread over at neogaf for more info. As i´m leaving for lunch right now (late already), i can´t be bothered search for the quotes.
