my gf's father is a musician from them olden days.
fathers day is coming up.
looking around for a simple hardware tool thats reliable and good (price doesn't really matter) that will convert old cassettes into a digital audio format. w/o plugging it into the pc and pressing record.

something like http://www.ionaudio.com/products/details/tape-express-with-headphones

but with a pretty much built in hard drive that will store the files. so it'll just require file transfer.

you fellas know of any good ones?

you don't need no special hardware only a simple cable that you can make to plug into LINE IN on your PC sound card and LINE OUT on your tape player , press play on your tape player and find your setting in windows sound control to include line In sound.. after that any sound recorder will do even from Windows named Sound Recorder duh... what you will do with your waves that your business ... compress it to mp3 or not

but if your Mac/PC laptop only has a USB then well that 1$ cable or free thing will not work for you then you need something like your link a build in tape deck with a usb plug
