ok Wise people of Nforce Its time to upgrade my vid card is it going to be a 6600GT or an X800 ? i can afford both but if the performance bump between the two isnt massive ill go for the 6600GT cheers in advance

X800 = competitor of 6800 6600 = value card, based on 6800. seriously people, google! this has been said 20 times just this week http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2299

On that review it looks like a 6800GT may be the best choice, is it a lot more than than the x800 money wise?

it depends on what manufacturer u get but for an equal performance card of either it'll be about the same anyway.
