DRM FREE!

That’s right you heard correctly! A downloadable DRM free version of the game! The DRM free version of the game won’t be available at the same time we launch the first release of the PC game through Steam – it will be introduced as soon as we can, afterwards. And obviously some of the stuff that comes with the Steam version won’t be supported… But you’ll be getting complete freedom to play Single Player and LAN multiplayer without the need to install Steam or be connected to the internets. We are adding it to the $15 level, so it’s the same price as the Steam download version. And if you pledge for the DRM free version, we’ll also send you the Steam code so you can still play immediately and take advantage of the Steam features, if you want.

The backers haven't paid anything yet. They have just "pledged to pay".
The payments happen after the funding was successful.

Because more resources dedicated to a single SKU is preferable to the same finite amount of resources split between three SKUs? It's not rocket science Razz

Porting is WAY cheaper then making the game from the scratch, not the mention if they are using engine that already have OSX and Linux support it will make thing even easier.

Their engine doesn't support it, porting takes a lot of time and money. But I don't care about Linux and Mac, but for them it's nice to have, once ported is easy porting for next games Smile

armageddon: Reincarnation... "Work In Progress" sneaky peek
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nqwfGqwJlGo

We're working our way around the original "Blood on the Rooftops" track, as a test-bed for prototyping and developing the game. It involves designing and building the level geometry, working out the ped tech, testing handling, collision shape mods, physics stuff, PUp ideas, etc. etc... Basically, this prototyping process enables us to write the WHOLE GAME, and have fun while we do it! Very Happy It’s the same way that we developed the original game – as a constantly evolving prototype (based on a solid, written core design, of course!). The approach is: Get something up and playable as early as possible, then try stuff out!

This level teaser is intended only as a first impression of progress on the level construction for Carmageddon: Reincarnation. The vehicle, pedestrians their AI and their animations, plus the special effects, are ALL placeholder. The pedestrians in the clips we’ve edited together here were set up to be EXTRA easy to dismember (It’s a simple script editing job to set how well a ped holds together in an impact, again something that’ll be fun to MOD) because we thought it would be fun to spray plenty of blood about.

The level/game has NO optimisation of any kind yet, so EVERYTHING is being processed at ALL times - all the geometry, and around 1000 peds (hence the choppy framerate!). The level is in early/mid stage of construction, and so textures and detailing is missing, even from the more "finished" looking sections. And it goes without saying, In other words, IT'S EARLY DAYS!

Gory but a bit disappointing, still pre-alpha though.

The best part of that trailer was Zero Signal*. Honestly, that was pretty embarrassing and I would NOT have put that out to show backers what they'd just paid for Sad

*I'm pretty sure that was Zero Signal from Fear Factory, used most prominently in the MK movie.

its not much of a trailer - more like sneak peak to development process
