So it works that way but you cannot make it full screen? Alt+Enter worked for me.


I think it did, not sure if it was running on DX11 at that moment. Will try later when i'm home!

im still not playing this. i got too many issues. from needing to alter steam folders to get it even running, to stretching issues at native res.. look at my Max.

rocskatars current fix is to play in windowed mode... thx shitstar

That aspect ratio issue I've seen mentioned elsewhere, that person used 1600x900 and apparently the game didn't have that properly set so the user got some 4x3 distortion instead of proper 16x9 and the game also doesn't have a aspect ratio override option if I remember correctly which complicates things.

EDIT: Yeah how the game streams data during the cinematics does mean that skipping is sometimes completely impossible even if it feels like it shouldn't be a issue at all, I think the same problem existed in GTA IV to some degree.

yep, Im getting 4:3 on my 16:10 native res. ridiculous to play like that so im waiting for a patch. ATI users have a workaround for it, by dsabling EDID, but I am not aware of any setting for nvidia that does that.

Finished it as well. Full review on the way, but here's the outline: It's a good TPS, but Max Payne it is not. The narrative and characters weren't crafted as well as in 1&2, the atmosphere was missing, for all intents and purposes, this was just a Die Hard game set in a generic south american location. Shooting was solid, it actually presented a challenge (half of which is to blame on imho poor mouse controls), but I did die quite a few times on hard, and that's a good sign. And then there was the endless anti-rich rhetoric, and I hate it, when ideology is spoon-fed to me, especially on such a superficial level.

Yeah, I understand this angle, but he had beef with even richer fuckers in mp1 and 2, and somehow there he didn't have to bring in the class warfare theme. I'm just really sick of the fact, that not only is the TV and net full of this class warfare shit, now it's in games, too.

i am playing in DX10.1 mode and Ambient occlusion is Greyed out any idea why?

second problem is if i force the textures on very high it doesn't seem to load during cutscenes which lead to an awkward max standing in void till the level loads.

Look for 16:10 on the thread search and look up stemot's post regarding this and borderlessWindow... worked like a charm

DX10 adds some performance enhancements (Or so I think.) DX10.1 allows for MSAA and DX11 allows for SSAO(and HDAO) and tessellation.
(DX11 also adds some other things as mentioned earlier.)

Just finished it myself and I've got to say; that was phenomenal! Absolutely amazing game from start to finish, that pretty much excelled at everything it touched on; the gunplay was faultless, the visuals sublime, the audio top-notch and the story was gritty and engrossing. I loved this game and I actually feel slightly guilty for only paying $16 for it. Fantastic game, fantastic entry in the Max Payne series and god DAMN that was a fun +/- 10hrs Very Happy

Well done Rockstar, well done indeed.


Oh and as for Chapters 11 (...part 2) and 14? (when you're running through the terminal) DAT MUSIC!!! So Much Win

Aye, especially for subsequent playthroughs.. those unskippable cutscenes (yeah, sure it's "still loading..." after 2 minutes, sure) would be aggravating.
