should be around 400-500€ , doesn't need to be anything special, just able to run diablo3 and other new...ish games, oh and of course be stable/reliable cause we all know who has to fix it if it breaks Laughing

so far i've got:
1 x XFX Radeon HD 6870 900M Dual Fan, 1GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, 2x mini DisplayPort (HD-687A-ZDFC)
1 x Cooltek K3 Evolution
1 x Cougar A400 400W ATX 2.3
1 x Intel Core i3-2120, 2x 3.30GHz, boxed (BX80623I32120)
1 x G.Skill DIMM Kit 8GB PC3-10667U CL9-9-9-24 (DDR3-1333) (F3-10600CL9D-8GBNT)
1 x MSI B75MA-P45, B75 (dual PC3-12800U DDR3) (7798-010R)

any issues with that build?

Seriously, the i5 is just so much more powerful, yeah you'll pay 100€ more for mainboard and cpu but it's so damn worth it Sad Am on a fucking X4 myself Sad

so...ended up getting the following components:

amd phenom x4 965 black edition
asrock 970 extreme 4
corsair xms cl9 1333 1x 4gb
radeon 6870
seagate barracuda 1tb
cougar 450w psu

put it together and now this thing won't POST. i keep getting 3 long beeps and at least it has this asrock dr debug led thingy showing error 54, meaning "unspecified memory initialization error"....does that mean that this mobo simply doesn't like the ram?
already googled the hell out of it and from what i've got so far it could be either the cpu, mobo or ram Laughing which doesn't get me anywhere since i have no spare parts to test each of them

Have you tried the memory sticks into any other opened slot? Have you pressed a tad harder on them? Other than this, I can't really give you any other advice since I encountered this before and this solved it.

have you put them in the right slots? some make you put them right next to eachother , some make you put them in slot 1 and 3.

if that doesnt work put in one stick , try , if not try other stick by itself. Also i hope that 450 watt psu isnt giving you issues.

EDIT : not sure i if see this right but you wrote 1 stick of 4GB ... ?

yes the stick is sitting just fine in the slot, also tried all 4, still same shit. there are also no broken/damaged pins or anything, so at least from a superficial standpoint, that's not the problem.

@paintface: yeah, just 1 stick because she's a scrooge and it's not like she would notice the difference of no dual channel for now, comimg from a crappy acer latop Laughing besides, i'll throw in a second one asap anyway

Sounds like my problem with my old 955BE, my gigabyte mobo didn't like GEIL memory.

See if you have another brand ram that you can try out with.
Fixed it for me when i swapped the memory for OCZ Gold one

Stupid how a certain ram can't properly work on a certain mobo, while it technically should work...

But glad that it was the same problem, because now you know what it is and can fix it easy^^
