You mean GM as in grandmaster of everyskill of GM as in game master of the shard?
I GMed nearly all skills on like 3 shards and became GM on a french shard but quit this game 3 years ago... take too much free time
yeah that was nice, with the server emulators out there I think it's the game with the most possible customization I saw. Except maybe do a mod of half-life but it take lot of time and it's hard to do while RunUO and maybe others now have some easy scripting and you can do whatever you want. I remember seeing things like marijouana cookie who cast hallucination on yourself when you eat them
ahh writing this makes me want to re-install the game... no time no time
You can Greenlight others software? Or maybe I misunderstood.
(The author is currently offering Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot on Greenlight and I think those were by two separate studios and publishers with EA/Origin having the rights to the Ultima franchise.)
Nice, voted yes for UO and DAOC!
Although, like some comments there, i agree that it probably should not get greenlit.
Let the great experiences rest in peace

I feel the same way. I tried going back to DAoC a couple years ago and it was very clunky and not fun. The memories are better than the actual game, at least for me.
What I got out of that video ties directly into what decades of firsthand MMO/MP gaming has supported - people are a cancer, both unto themselves and the environment they inhabit. Looks like The Matrix had it right all along!
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Mondain the wizard from the very first Ultima in the 1980's had a gem that conferred immortality. The Stranger (Later known as the Avatar.) smashed the gem but the shards all contain their own realms of Britannia.
Or something along those lines, essentially explaining the MMO aspect within the lore of the Ultima series back when Lord British wasn't floating around in outer space and gave a shit about the series. (And wasn't all that fond about EA apparently going by some not so subtle nods in Ultima 7 and 8 as it seems. )
But yeah different worlds to connect against running their own rules or modifications after the official servers were taken down.
Still pretty popular too I believe, quite a thing back in it's day giving players the freedom to do just about what they wanted, meaning gang up and pick on weaker players with impunity forcing them into digital slavery and extortion.
