I gotta hand it down to Firaxis. They made it pretty difficult to make proper warez release.

By making each DLC updated separately (and regularly) with each patch, and not having them as part of expansion, whoever makes warez version needs to own or have files both from base game, expansion, and all DLC civs (updated to the latest patch). If one thing is missing there are crashes or incomplete experience.

Sure, if you don't mind missing all DLCs, released up to this day. Very Happy

Only Spain dlc civ (that is 50% of one DLC), is included as part of expansion. Everything else still needs to be bought separately.

Revolt version works fine for me. I must say, the Faith stuff is a pretty interesting addition. I kinda like it, especially that you can "make" your own faith.

Also, the Steampunk scenario is f*ckin awesome! They should've advertised this more. Special units, buildings, tech tree, civs (no special units for civs but still). Airships, landships. Pretty nice! I like it even better than the faith mechanic itself...

I have no idea, waiting and watching what people say. I have the game all patched up, right before the latest patch before gods and kings. I can wait. It will be a year before it's patched right anyway, lol

I'm using the Ali's version with 3DM's crack so I can play in DX11.

It seems to be working just fine as far as DLC go. Ali's version came with all of the DLC except one, which I copied from a Civ game I already had. It's possible I just haven't met enough civilizations to fully test all the DLC, but it's working well right now.

Revolt works fine if you disable the Babylon DLC.

Anyone know if it's possible to get the working dlc from older civ 5 release? I have fully working civ5 with all dlcs also installed. But by comparing the files I could not find an actual difference (just by eyeing through the files) in the files...

I tried just copying the DLC Deluxe folder from the old one over to the new one and then in the resources/dx9,common,dx9low the files relating to nebuchadnessar. But it didn't change anything (the file sizes were identical anyway, just date differences).

I thought they had atleast optimized the engine a little bit. The game still slows down to a crawl during the late game for me.
Anyone who noticed a peformance increase?

If you are having problems with late game performance try to add the game and savegame folder to the exception list of your antivir (or win7 security essentials). Before I did this, late game was a pain in the ass (quadcore 8gig win7 64bit 260gtx).

Just a quickshot but should help Smile

Update 7 doesn't have all the DLC. There were at least 3 DLC released after that update. Around here we used the updated files provided by JB (thanks, mate for the continuous support) and the cracks made by the chinese 3DM team.

How big/essential are these DLCs? I think I'll just buy the expansion but fuck em if the DLCs (which are overpriced) are important.

Not very essential at all, it's just added civs, some scenarios that are pretty silly and some custom maps that aren't very good. The wonders DLC is sort of ok, but it's not essential.
You don't miss out on anything that affects the core gameplay and there are enough civs by default to get by.

Only reason to get them is if there is one of the new civs that you are interested in playing.

Well, those DLC's add 7 new scenarios, plus the respective civilizations and leaders. So, basically you get a bigger game. And don't worry, they've been on sales on Steam quite a few times. Just grab them when the price goes way down (i think there were a few sales when you could get those at 8 euro all).

I see a lot of people complaining that they can't play after installing Gods And Kings from Fairlight over the the Civ5 GOTY repack from SIMON. As far as i know, that repack included 1.0.1.511 patch and all the DLC's. So there would be no reason for the game not working properly. And yet, there are reports of missing textures and such. Which leads me to believe that Fairlight didn't added the updated files for DLC's.
