I'm on the fence... I enjoyed the both the 1995 Dredd and the original 2000AD comics Dredd, so this one just seems understated in comparison. I'm really not sure Urban is Dredd material, so I'll wait and see and hope to be proven wrong.

Agreed... what the fuck have they done to Judge Dredd? The whole point with him was that he was judge, jury and executioner who chased fools and killed them because he is the law. Now it seems he's needs sanctions for killing people, which is less fun than killing people for all retarded reasons he does in the comic books.

Also, did the helmet look too big? Or was that just me?

No, not just you, the whole thing looks ridiculous. Urban just doesn't have the physique to play Dredd, and the presented world here looks just bad. And the voice - hahaha did he attempt to do a Dark Knight? Laughing

The most inexcusable part is how drastically they've altered his armour. The helmet is large, but visually the same as the comics -- his armour? It's horrible Neutral Oh well, guess I'll just wait and see.. it might turn out okay but it might just as easily be a train wreck.

Honestly... Times like this (I mean the movie audience) I can't think of anyone who could pull all this off. Director, producer, actor... just noone. To appeal to todays "demanding" audience.

There are plenty of ways they could pull this off and plenty of actors who could do it too. Like I said; I'm on the fence about it at the moment.. but that armour is just wrong any way you slice it.

That's why I'm still on the fence about the movie in general.. it *could* be good, I just have my doubts. The voice, the presence, the armour.. none of it *feels* like Dredd. Hopefully the full thing will do a lot more justice (Very Happy) to the name that that disjointed trailer seems to show. As hyper-cheesy as Judge Dredd 1995 was, it did an admirable job of bringing Dredd to the screen and it was entertaining to boot.

I don't know anything about dredd, except for the 95 movie which I liked.

This could be an entertaining action flick, but urban's voice did not fit a bit. And yes he tried to do a dark knight but failed. Still waiting for an unrated trailer, maybe there'll be some acceptable gore Very Happy

Kinda miss Stallone as Dredd even though that version sucked pretty hard. Carl Urban just isnt super heroy enough and not nearly badass enough for the role.
