Damn! So I actually have to buy it next month Razz

Are you absolutely sure about that. I've got the CiV5 mega pack thingy from a sale not so long ago. Would suck if it doesn't affect everything that was included in there.

Has the modding taken off for Civ V yet? I remember they hyped the awesome modding capabilities before release, but that turned out to be bullshit initially at least.

Seems to be a lot better since the Steam Workshop integration. Some very nice looking mods that mimic Civ 4's culture creep, as well as a mod that turns it into a World War 2 strategy game.

Damn these 3DM guys operate in the open with nothing to fear since they are in China I guess. They have their own public website and even operate their own public torrent tracker? If they were anywhere else in the world they probably would have been shut down already.

Performance on my Q6600 was brutal at times, my i5-2500k is much, much better, only similar slowdowns were due to the Skidrow crack, at endgame 20 turns were fine, 1 would pause for 30-60 seconds, then it was fine for another 10-20 and so on
Not tested it on the largest maps yet though

People recommend limiting City states to help prevent slowdown late game, some also recommend not using the auto explore

I'm hoping this expansion will improve the game enough for me, otherwise I'll be installing Civ IV Complete that I picked up a few weeks back

I definetely noticed improved turn times on my rig, especially in the last stages of the game. I play on Standard maps.

After some extended playing there seems to be no real difference between dx9 and dx11 in terms of performance. However dx11 seems to make the CPU run hotter, coretemp says my i3 560 shot to 100C from 40C idle in five minutes. O_o

That sounds like a (severe) bug - are you using some aftermarket cooler or the stock one? Have you overlocked at all?

Got a question asked regarding the files from the Steam cache the game uses (That new format introduced recently.) and via that the user whom asked about it could get a comparison and find out about possible mismatched files.

http://www63.zippyshare.com/v/92918533/file.html
http://www50.zippyshare.com/v/87257703/file.html

Those are the files it pointed out so I'll just post them here as well but they might not be necessary depending on what release you have.
(Avoid the .dll if you use a release that deliberately makes use of a modified version of that file, might be all of them actually.)

I don't have the "Gods & Kings" expansion yet (Waiting for a better price, at least for now.) so I've no idea if anything is missing from that but I don't think there is anything left out.

Above is mostly XML changes but since the game relies heavily on these sorts of files it might be a bit more serious than text and localization updates. Smile
(But there's some of that too.)

I am uncertain but I assume that's how it is, there's very few affected files compared to the usual patch difference so it's either that or it's a different release with this latest version but where some updated files are actually incorrect.

There is a small chance that when installed expansion overrides some core game files so the updates posted by JBeckman might not bring the Civ 5+Expansion+other DLC game package to its proper state.

It is possible to verify game files checksums (and find missing files) if someone uploads expansion manifest files (all the game files checksums are stored in those manifests):

Steam\depotcache\16870_*.manifest
Steam\depotcache\16871_*.manifest
(there should be lots of digits in place of *)

Big gratitude to JBeckman who already uploaded manifests for base game and the rest of DLCs but since he does not own the expansion yet hopefully someone else here can upload expansion manifest files? Because surely not ALL of us are pirates here, isn't it? Smile

For those who does not own the expansion - yes.

Many thanks! I have finally compiled complete and fully verified Civ5+Expansion+all DLC game package. A few points of interest:
- expansion does not replace a single base game or other DLCs file - only adds new files;
- FLT crack now works without error message boxes and missing textures but 2 DLCs (Nebuchadnezzar II and Ancient Wonders) do not activate with this crack;
- 3DMGAME-Sid.Meiers.Civilization.V.v1.0.1.674.Incl.Gods.and.Kings.Crack.Fix1-3DM crack works without any issues - no errors, all DLCs activate.

congrats man, you figured out what we've known now for a week Razz That's what I was saying last week, the two DLC were not highlighted and not working. All else was. Well when I applied the crack fix to the FLT release, the babylons worked, but the texts were all messed up; and the Natural Wonders did not work at all. All works as intended now, now to see if future patches fix the game, lol

I'm wondering if I should get Civ5 after playing CivIV Complete for some months. Enjoyed it a lot. I read mixed reviews and I can't decide. What is your opinion guys - is it good successor of prev Civ games?
