@shakabutt: they COULD have made a game where you get the gear you need on your way through the levels without grinding. Countless aRPGs have managed to do that just fine. That they made the game the way they did, is a testament to their greed imho.
Yes, people will be willing to pay for help in the higher levels, but why even bother, its the same story and the same levels? If they didnt get the balancing "right" for an SP / coop game, so that you HAVE to buy stuff just to enjoy it, isnt that a broken game?
Me: Wont buy, wont play.

Theres no point in arguing over this, the game is what it is, clearly not everyone's cup of tea, it comes down to the fact that if you liked how diablo 2 did things you will love how this one does it, grinding was and is a large hook for both games.
The fact that people are playing the same content for over 10 years is a testament to this.
Except in D3 you don't have uncrontrolled/unsecure item trading, duping, hacking and in here you have a system that manages that.
Like i said, people who love the diablo franchise love it because of the grind first, lore and story second.
And don't tell me D2 was born bug free, with unbalances and stuff like that, its still receiving patches to this day.

In D1/2 you could actually farm the stuff you needed for the most part. In this one, the stuff you need drops in the next act for ranged (used to anyway, I'll get to that in a minute), 2 acts ahead for melee. The stuff you do get won't sell for shit usually.
Lathi and I have been farming act 3 for a while now. In the past 7-10 days we haven't seen a single drop that'll sell for over 100k and even those were few and far between. Never, and I mean absolutely never, did we find any 1h over 700 DPS. Tonight we went to act 2 for a change and I find an axe with 892 DPS (and a 1.1k 2h, 1k xbow, etc). The current situation? Bosses are worthless and act 2 is a thousand times more profitable to farm than act 3. Gold/magic drops not only cover the little repairs you get but even make it profitable and the rares are much better. Meanwhile, act 3 is still broken for melee with the 30+ million gear check to even survive, for barbs it's much higher if you also want to help and DPS effectively.

They should never have been broken to begin with. And if not intentionally broken, hotfixed already. And the patch did not fix the balance issues, a nerf bat is not the solution.

I wish I could understand what makes ppl kiss the prick of a greedhead whose reaching right up every stupido mugs arse to play him like a glove puppet while the dingbat slobbers up the cum n calls it gold dust.
If I could understand that mystery dance I reckon I'd hafta to toss a coin to see whether to join the greedies gang or build a vaccine.
I like hack in slash dungeon crawler type games and don't mind playing d3 on the days when the servers aren't so laggy u get killed by a rubberband, n u can't pick up shit that isn't at least 2 acts outta date, but nothing on earth would inspire me to reward blizzard's greedy incompetence by paying them to make the game easier for myself. I've had the same as everyone else in terms of unjust death caused by the fucked upness of the game but I would almost rather give money to those sleazy lying ripoffs over at cheat happens to buy a fuckin cheat machine to win a game, than give money to blzzass to do the same thing.
The two acts are identical buying a cheat machine or buying better gear- the only difference is that those scumbags at cheat happens have a slight edge on morality over blizzass who already own the last dollar I'm ever gonnna give em.

Are you so blind you do no realize they did this on purpose? I watched the evolution of their responses. First they denied anything was wrong with the drops, then when users started to provide their findings (guys who did runs and kept track of 100's of rare drops) that Act 3 was dropping less ilevel 63 items then Act 2 was (at about half the rate) they finally conceded to the fact their was an issue and they will look in to it. A game based around loot and drop rates that need to be ever changing as they said themselves due to the AH either becoming saturated or desaturated with items, is coded so they can make the mistake of accidently nerfing the drop rates while trying to increase other drop rates? complete horse shit, tehy wanted to buff Act 1/2's drop rates and nerf the hell out of Act 3/4 so the market would remain stale and lead people to the RMAH. Its not even the tinfoil hat theory, its simply what they are doing and its garbage.

This game just started to remind me Justin Bieber. Diablo is a product owned by Blizzard, and Justin Bieber is a product of his own producers. He is a marketing success, has lots of fangirls and still continues to sell, earn money to the producers. Diablo 3 has lots of 'fanboys', and has history and still continues to bring money to Blizzard as a cashcow.
Marketing and success in sales =/= quality. Yes, this game has some quality but it's mostly because of hard polishing work. Just like Justin Bieber's style, haircut and through those qualifications, dumb girls whom admiries him.
I like to play Diablo 3, gameplay is great. But nothing else.
My cousin's little daughter listens to Justin Bieber, but she doesn't even know what the fuck he is singing about.

What more is there to it? If a game has -all things considered - good gameplay, then it's a good game in my book.
The Justin Bieber comparison kind of falls off here: Bieber's fans are mostly young girls (i.e. you might make an argument that his music only appeals to less mature audiences), but the "fans" of Diablo 3 vary from new gamers to old, very experienced ones (so it's rather a matter of taste, liking/disliking the AH and online stuff etc.).

They're young girls, and we're gamer fags. Different audiences, but same goal: Making, squizing money.
I don't know my example could be idiotic, you get the memo.
I just reinstalled Torchlight and in terms of variety, it kicks D3's ass so hard. I'm playing this ranged class, but all I do is pump elemental damage, summon archer and melee skeletons. Semi D2 Necro and semi D3 Demon Hunter. Lots of charms, with those charms you can just make lots of different builds. And every class has 3 different skill trees you can pick from and you can combine them. There's a mod that allows you to make hybrid classes. Lots of unique items(low levels and some with unique abilities).

Gameplay mechanics are not everything for Diablo. When loot system sucks the game won't keep you playing for hundred of hours as the predecessor did. I like D3, it kept me for quite a long time and I got my money worth. However I'd hoped it would keep me playing for loot for much longer. At this moment all you have to work toward higher DPS weapon, more of your primary stats, vitality, all resistance/and or crit damage/crit chance (until they nerf it like they did IAS). This is boring design, especially since majority of your loot will be vendor trash. And when loot isn't exciting, repeated runs of same content gets boring really quickly. Currently you pretty much hope for some ~100k items to drop that you can sell on AH, make enough money to buy some sweet item from AH for millions, rinse and repeat it for all 13 slots of your character. That, or play AH, but then there's no point in playing the game anymore.

pretty sure using the mouse with the wrong hand, unless form bzmh-48b has been filled out and approved, is grounds for banning on bnet, so yes. i can see that as definately bannable.

Just got the "not getting exp" bug. Lol I didn't thought it's random.
EDIT:
One more thing I was farming some levels before Azmodan for better gear on nightmare and after 2 hours of getting nothing but junk I finally broke. Got to GAH and bought some far better weapons. And suddenly magically the mobs started to drop 5-6 levels better gear on the levels I was farming before. Still worse than what I have bought but WTF?
