Quote: | According to industry analyst NPD Group, sales of video-game hardware -- a.k.a consoles -- software and even accessories fell for a sixth consecutive month in May, tumbling 28% from a year earlier to $517 million. And with the release of Blizzard's (ATVI) Diablo III, May also saw the first time since July 2010 that the top-selling game was a PC-only title. That boosted PC video games sales up year-over-year to 230% or $80 million. |

Now keep in mind, this is only NPD Group data, the sales from the PC are actually a lot higher.

A rise due to a single game (Diablo 3) doesn't say much imo. I'm amazed the gap is still that huge, I thought last year was a brilliant PC year.

Again, NPD. It counts only retail copies and only in US.

Wouldn't that just make the real PC numbers even higher though?

Ofc - but that's not the point. The point is that there are never ever any really good statistics.

No steam, origin, or any other digital form of retail, meaningless stats.

These numbers are clearly fake and manipulated by nostalgic elitists affected by inferiority complexes, PC gaming is dead and computers are now just expensive facebook machines.
Console gaming is where the innovation and real gamers triumph, and thanks to revolutionary body tracking devices such as Kinect, the PC is even more destined to fail, facing an incredibly dark future.

Console digital sales are hardly worth it because it are mostly cheap DLCs. In my country people hardly buy PC games in store anymore, Steam all the way, so I'm pretty sure that you can triple that amount easily (also because it's only USA).
PC: Yes. Console: No.
