I didn't finish a big portion of the games I started when I was really into gaming. Most people try a game and stop, nothing strange about that. You can't expect every gamer that got it to finish your game.
No, but you expect good games to be finished more than bad games, right? Then we enter the domain of which are good games vs. which are bad games, and thus the quality of players overall.

You assume everyone likes the same kinda games. Witcher 2 for example can be easily mistaken for an action game, it is not. Someone who does not like RPGs will not finish and that will be presented in the stats.
The current marketing strategies are the problem, many games are wrongly marketed/represented.
Man I remember the satisfaction I got from the 1st Hitman game, sniping that Chinese dude in the head, and the hotel level (was it in Contracts?) where you kill that fat dude in the shower... it really felt like you were assassinating someone... this just looks like rampaging murder at the click of a button!!
Whoever though of mark and fucking execute should be flayed alive by the PC community.... we have fucking mice, we can AIM you TWAT!
Splinter Cell, Hitman, Ghost Recon, Rainbox Six all ruined.... Max Payne 3 was the only recent game that felt like a spiritual successor made in the same style as it's previous games...
EDIT: Also, the last level of Blood Money was frickin genius....
