I agree with Ispep that Il-2 Sturmovik, Forgotten Battles, Pacific Fighters are a lot of fun. Nice WW2 flight sims.

They are all pretty rotten games.
I want a new flight sim that takes advantage of modern PC graphics capabilities, and that's easy and fun to control. I don't want to learn how to use 80 buttons to control the plane.
F18 Interceptor on the Amiga is still the best flight sim ever, and it's just sad that still no one has been able to get close to that F18 Interceptor-feeling...

Il-2 Sturmovik offers realism but unlike the modern jets doesn't require anything more from the user in terms of a steep learning curve - although deep it doesn't drown anybody and all you need to learn to do is up the throttle, pull the stick, and aim your guns.
The simple flight sims of the past are not good sellers I don't think, they used to take precedent but I've not seen any for quite a while now.
You'll find that the console market probably has one or two games of that ilk.
BTW Falcon 4 AF can be tailored to an easy model; make the radar simple with just selecting your targets like in the past by pressing just one key. There's more too - so you can scale the realism if you so desire.
Same goes for the other games.
