oh are you saying the 3700-4900 or whatever block value from a shield is applied to every hit and when you get a block it negates all damage? because that's just completely wrong.
Maybe you're thinking of another game.
You made me look it up and yep, block value is only applied WHEN you block.
That makes block even more worthless. Holy shit that is bad. How the fuck is even 50% chance to block 4k damage ANY good? That's an average DR of just 2k, which is quite worthless.

oh and if you get hit for 45k AFTER damage reduction from armour and resistances you're fighting way way above where you should be at your gear level.
of course when you get oneshot by everything a shield won't save you.
also don't forget that a good shield will give you like 1000-1500 base armor which is also very useful and drastically increases your effective HP.
Oh really now? 10.2k armour and 700+ all resist with shield. I'm not fighting above where my gear level is at. I fucking oneshot everything in Act 1 - I'll do a new Butcher video just for the hell of it, it takes me 5-10 seconds tops to kill him. Nothing in A1 hurts. A2 is not much difference, except I don't 1-shot, but 2-shot stuff.
I'm "undergeared" in the sense that Blizzard fucked Act III up so badly that the gear requirements are too high. The only reason to wear a shield is for the extra armour and stats, not for the block.
I'm at the point where an upgrade for any piece of my gear now costs in excess of 6 million and it just keeps getting worse every day because everyone knows it. I'm growing more and more bored of the game, because even with 315% MF I still get absolutely fuck all in drops. No drops = no money = no upgrades, because I'll be damned if I ever see a drop I can use myself. Plenty of upgrades for my MF gear, sure.
And just for the record: I *can* solo A3 on my barb now. Means I have to wait for cooldowns from time to time, but I can get it done. Overall, the gear on him is worth about 35-40 million I reckon. Meanwhile, my DH sits there in gear worth less than 10 and she breezes through A3 twice as easily.
700 resist is very low.
I have 9.5k armor and 1k resist on my tankwizard. 30k HP. I can tank everything easily, but without a shield to block, my survivability really goes down the drain. "Hard attacks" hit me for 10k, substract blockdamage from it and it will only hit me for 5-6k, which is a huge difference, that's practically halving the damage. "Normal attacks" hit me for around 5k.
So yeah, block is very good imo, but you need like 95% mitigation or else its useless. I got around 97%, vs melee it's even higher (string of ears and blur passive, very good when doing whimsyshire, only melee mobs here).
edit: game is crap btw. I only log in now and then to check out new patches and some pubbing with friends.
Any one got news on when the 1.4 patch will be released approximately ?
I didnt start playing the game yet but after all these negative feedback I am disappointed that i payed for this game (maybe i will get my money back through items i collect )

I think you made a mistake there The "negative feedback" comes from the endgame (inferno), either lack of endgame content or supposed lack of good drops or the necessity of using at least the gold-AH. Despite all the exaggerated claims, it is my impression that the majority of the complainers liked or even loved the game up to and including hell difficulty.
As for making money back, it might be kind of late for that ... when the RMAH launched it was easy to make money, now the market is quite flooded and only the really top items are sellable.
I'll quote one of the definitions for you... from your page... you linked there:
Quote:
A sarcastic phrase meaning "as if I could care less about this."
Stupid people often complain about this phrase, insisting that "I couldn't care less" should be used instead. This is because they fail to realize that "I could care less" is an appropriate and historically popular idiom that dates back to the 1960s.
The very same morons will probably tell you, "But if you could care less, that means you actually cared about it at least a little bit in the first place." That is because the sarcasm is lost on them. Should you hear this, just smile and enjoy knowing that you are speaking to someone of low intelligence.
Pete: "Did you hear? Jenny got AIDS!"
Reggie: "I could care less, man."
Pete: "Haha, you mean 'I couldn't care less.'"
Reggie: "No I don't. You're retarded."
Spoiler:
PS. I could care less
Ah. See you think that i didn't read that one. Seeing that you actually took the time to skim through and find that at the very bottom of the list makes your saying exactly true. You could care less about me posting that because you care or you wouldn't have wasted the time reading through all of them to prove me "wrong". Way to use the phrase properly!

After finally beating Inferno with my wizard (without using any exploits) I now started playing Hardcore. And it is a LOT more fun. The fear that you might die at any second is a lot more thrilling than just throwing yourself at boss packs again and again. Also the economy is way different with cool items being constantly removed from the item pool and flawless square gems still actually sell for 5k.

Wait until you start dying at 40/50+ from server lag spike
That's one one single gripe with the game, those goddamn lag spikes murdering HC characters. Such bs.

So HC items are sold seperatly? Well then playing hc makes at least some sense.

Also, there's no RMAH for HC. Then again, I personally won't touch HC, too much time investment into something I might ruin with a single mistake or even by an outage.
