yeah i spose all those spaceships are getting pretty modern day...
pft
its about the gags, not about creating a realistic future... why invent some silly sci-tech when a very familiar keyboard and screen delivers the punchline much better?

This one was great

Anyone remember the old episode about the internet, where they went in and it was all 3D and whatnot? Sure, there were pop culture things like Napster and all that, but still, it was a valid what-if internet 1000 years in the future. In the recent episodes internet is just like now, accessed through some display and keyboard. And that's basically it with all the tiny side-jokes and gadgets futurama had, it just doesn't feel as futuristic anymore in the new episodes. |
Yeah i was thinking about that too.. I remember in some early episode Fry was shocked when he bought something (like a sausage or whatever), it was like $2000, but in some of the more recent episodes when they talk economics or buy something, it's todays prices they're refering to. They should really take advantage more of the futuristic setting, there's so much fun with that theme alone to do..

thats the point i was trying to make. who cares if they create a consistent or believable 'future' vision... its about the laughs, and thats ALL that should matter.
the show has never been about focusing on future tech, its only ever been in aid of the storylines.

I liked the intro:
"A wise man once said that nothing really dies, it just comes back in a new form."
Spoiler: | "And then he died" |

They were good opening for the season. Although I don't like how they just forgot Bender's first son, the one he sacrificed for his "damned army". Kinda made the whole episode uncomfortable.

How can a series close to two decades old ever keep its original quality?
I've watched Futurama's last season some days ago and the humor is completely changed. Before it was witty, now it's more simplistic and in your face. I didn't like it much, didn't have any lol moments unlike the old seasons.

I will say one thing though; I'm surprised at Family Guy. It kinda dulled a little bit in some of the mid-late seasons, and then came back in a storm for season 10. I had more honest to god laugh out loud moments so far in S10 than I had in a very long time.

Yeah really, this season is very weak so far.
People said the same about last season which had some duds but it also had a bunch of really amazing eps.
This year its mostly about slapstick, in-your-face comedy and contemporary stuff transported into a future scenario.
They need to do more sci-fi and mad science again, as of now there is nothing that makes this season stand out.
